A major 20th Fox property from the comics is set to be included in the forthcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.

Having Disney and Fox together has brought a lot of perks for Marvel. New properties, such as characters and locations, are incredibly useful at times in expanding the universe from a narrative standpoint. And new photos (courtesy of ComicBook.com) coming from the set of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it’s been discovered that the creative team has included the setting of Madripoor in the MCU.

First introduced within the pages of New Mutants No.32, Madripoor is a fictional island and capital located in Southeast Asia, which is along the Straits of Malacca over the southern portion of the stretch of water, which lays across the Malay Peninsula. Madripoor is situated between the Indonesian island of Sumatra and Singapore, the latter of which the infamous land is modeled after. It was created by writer Chris Claremont and artist Steve Leialoha.

Madripoor is said to be the place where the seediest of lowlifes and most perverse criminals and assassins go to lay low from the law or restart their life of crime. Known organizations that have operated there are The Hand and Hydra. On the set of the Disney Plus show, what makes this location stick out, according to insider Charles Murphy, is the display of the lion, star and the moon — all symbols that represent the country.

There have been some interesting revelations on the Disney Plus portion of the MCU as of late, with SWORD apparently being revealed to be the organization present in WandaVision, and there are rumors that Marvel may be zeroing in on actors for the roles of Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel. Madripoor could possibly feature in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings as well since at least some of the villains the hero faced were from Madripoor.

It’s unknown why The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would use the location, but maybe it could be one of Hydra’s outposts (at least what’s left of them.) The six-episode series, developed by Malcolm Spellman and starring Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Daniel Brühl, Emily VanCamp and Wyatt Russell, is set to be released in the fall of 2020.
