5. Skyler Samuels

There’s always a chance that Andy Muschietti could cast an actress that hasn’t quite made a big-screen name for herself just yet (though she’s certainly on her way to doing so); a star on the rise around the same age as Clemons, and that’s Skyler Samuels. The 26-year old Scream Queen actress has indeed made a name for herself on TV, and she’s no stranger to the comic book world. Samuels recently starred as Esme Frost in The Gifted. Her character wasn’t anything like Iris though. She was cunning, slick, and manipulated those who let her in. There are layers to her character, though which aids in her ability to play Iris.

In addition to her many television roles, Samuels is no a stranger to the big screen. She co-starred in the critically acclaimed teen-comedy The Duff, as Jess. If you haven’t seen it, she’s a bubbly, wide-eyed friend of Bianca who doesn’t let her attractiveness define her.

She would undoubtedly bring a comedic intangible to Iris that Clemons also would have been capable of bringing out. If the rumors were about this Iris being some sort of fashionista, Samuels could capture that part of her as well. Oh, and it may help that she played in a horror series, and The Flash has a director familiar with horror.

Samuels is an up and coming actress who could break out as Iris West in the DCEU.
