Spider-Man: No Way Home fans are eager to see the Hobgoblin arrive in the MCU and Cillian Murphy certainly looks the part in this image.

Spider-Man: No Way Home remains one of the most intriguing properties in the world – or should that be multiverse? – right now. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film is the third collaboration between Sony and Marvel Studios starring Tom Holland’s webslinger and it is set to bring Peter Parker back to the most famous franchise in the world once again.

As for what the movie’s about? That’s hard to describe. Not only have very little plot details been revealed but the theories involving the potential introduction of the multiverse make things even more confusing. But perhaps none of that is quite as confusing as the cast – which features a number of former Spider-Man actors who starred in non-MCU adaptations.

There have since been rumors about more shocking castings and characters that the film may feature. One of the characters that were once heavily-rumored to appear was the Hobgoblin (in a rather surprising fashion). While that has yet to be confirmed, this incredible fan art gives us an idea of what the character could look like if he were played by Cillian Murphy.

What Cillian Murphy might look like as the Hobgoblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the MCU

Digital artist m.design34 took to Instagram to share an incredible piece of concept art featuring Cillian Murphy in the role of the Hobgoblin.

More from Marvel Cinematic Universe

As the artist details, the image presents the star as the Roderick Kingsley iteration of the character and he sports a somewhat more realistic design – one that bears some resemblance to the comic book version of the Green Goblin.

Rumors have been circulating for years in relation to the Hobgoblin potentially showing up in the MCU – the reason being that Peter’s best friend, Ned Leeds (portrayed by Jacob Batalon), briefly becomes the Hobgoblin in the comics.

If Marvel Studios went with the Roderick Kingsley version in the future, this outstanding fan art highlights that the Batman Begins star would be a great choice for the role.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is released in theaters on December 17, 2021.
