Spider-Man: No Way Home continues to excite fans with the infinite amount of things that could happen in the film and this image of John Cena as Sandman highlights that.

Anything could happen in Spider-Man: No Way Home. That might sound like something of a bold statement to make but nothing is off-limits in the fast-approaching Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

A movie that will act as a sequel to previous Spidey movies, Homecoming and Far From Home, it is also set to be a pivotal installment in the MCU’s fourth phase. The reason for that is the belief that it will introduce the MCU to the multiverse, opening up the Marvel Studios franchise and allowing it to acknowledge previous non-MCU films and TV shows.

The film is one of the most intriguing in the casting department too, with major names attached (both from the MCU and outside of it) and that doesn’t even begin to cover the rumors and fan theories about names that could be involved in it. On that note, one name that people are hoping to see join the MCU in the future is John Cena and this image imagines what he could look like if he were to be one of the surprise additions in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

In the concept art, John Cena plays the role of Sandman, boasting a comic-accurate look with the character’s signature green T-shirt. It also showcases the character’s abilities as he manipulates his arms (uh, all four of them) into deadly weapons.

Whether or not Cena does end up playing the Sandman in the MCU remains to be seen but there have been rumors of the character appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home in a different capacity. Meanwhile, Cena will be making his debut in the DCEU this summer when he stars in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in movie theaters on December 17, 2021.
