23. Riddler

Comic book project: The Batman (Theaters)

The Riddler’s costume in The Batman is nothing like we’ve seen from the character before. Instead of the green suits with question marks or something traditionally goofy, he looks like a terrifying serial killer. At first, this writer didn’t like it. After talking to some people, though, he started to understand and appreciate the look.

The Batman is going to be more like Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy than Tim Burton or Zack Snyder. It only makes sense that even the sillier villains would follow suit with a more serious look. Look for Riddler to steal the show in The Batman.

22. Blade

Comic book project: Blade

Other than Mahershala Ali playing the Day Walker, we know almost nothing about Blade. It’s a bit frustrating, but it’s also fun. The mystery of what’s to come is intriguing. This writer believes that we’ll have more information about the project in 2022.

Filming is expected to begin in July, so expect some kind of updates before the year is out. How cool would a first look at Ali’s hero be?

21. Agent 355

Comic book project: Y: The Last Man (???)

Y: The Last Man was canceled after its first season. This writer was among the people who were critical of it, but still saw the potential, especially with Agent 355 (played by Ashley Romans). She was the highlight of the show. It’s unfortunate that Hulu wasn’t willing to give it a second chance. However, this writer can see another platform picking it up this year.

Showrunner Eliza Clark says that she believes, “someone else is going to be very lucky to have this team and this story.” This writer wholeheartedly agrees. If for nothing else because Agent 355 is that good. Even though reports say that there will be no season 2, let’s hope for positive news about the show’s future this year, with another service like HBO Max or Amazon Prime hopefully picking it up.
