Viola Davis could become the next person to get an HBO Max spin-off!

Viola Davis is one of the most accomplished performers of all time. She’s in a small group of people with an E.G.O.T. (an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award). She’s in a smaller group of Black people with one joining Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, James Earl Jones, Harry Belafonte, and Quincy Jones.

Knowing that, it’s not surprising that she was flawless as Amanda Waller in both Suicide Squad movies and HBO Max’s Peacemaker. Viola Davis was so good, in fact, that she may be getting her own spinoff on HBO Max.

Deadline reports that not only is Viola Davis in talks to star in the series, but executive produce it as well. Along with her, Christal Henry, who wrote and produced Watchmen – the critically-acclaimed HBO show that was incredibly creative and popular, is also attached to the project. Henry is set to write and executive produce the potential Amanda Waller spin-off. All of this spells success for HBO Max.

Viola Davis will make Amanda Waller better

HBO Max has been on top of its game with comic book projects. Peacemaker was incredibly popular, becoming one of the most talked-about shows of the year. Acquiring the likes of Titans, Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn, making a Kite Man spin-off, and bringing on multiple DC Comics animated classics increases the streaming service’s status as a hub for great DC content. And let’s not forget about the Batgirl movie that’s on the way. Viola Davis returning as Amanda Waller will build on their already fast-growing momentum.

A show with Amanda Waller could bring more DC Comics superheroes, villains, and surprises that viewers and comic book fans will appreciate. People unfamiliar with Waller in the comics don’t know how far she’ll go to achieve her goals. Sure, killing people with bombs you put in their heads is awful, but, she’ll go much further.

Putting a villain like Waller on HBO Max follows the same pattern as The Sopranos, Euphoria, and Game of Thrones. Each of those programs has antagonists and evil people that fans rooted for. However, none of them may be as bad-@$$ as Amanda Waller.
