To call Avengers: Doomsday one of the most anticipated movies of the decade would be an understatement. That's one of the reasons that Marvel Studios has started the marketing campaign a year early, rolling out teasers in theaters to ensure that audiences who see inevitable billion-dollar hit Avatar: Fire and Ash will be aware of the fact that The Avengers are coming back.

But, as predicted, the approach needs work. The trailers are theater-exclusive, which means it was only a matter of time until they leaked online. But it was actually no time at all, as the first one leaked early, revealing that a major character would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an unexpected early surprise. Marvel has removed all traces of it (for now) but the damage was done.

Somehow, another has seemingly surfaced (or at least the audio of it), sending fans into yet another meltdown.

Thor's Avengers: Doomsday trailer makes its way online

The second Avengers: Doomsday trailer was also unexpectedly leaked online, confirming a rumor about it. It was expected to feature Chris Hemsworth's Thor as insiders reported that earlier this week when the previous one leaked. And it turns out that the sources were correct, as the leak has seemingly confirmed that the God of Thunder is at the focus of the second short teaser.

Although the full footage itself has yet to surface, the complete audio of it has made its wat around the internet in a short space of time. And, according to those who have heard it, it features a brief monologue from Thor himself as he pleads to his late father Odin.

"Of all the crowns, the kingdoms, the pride, I ask for none. Father, hear your son. I am not worthy of life, but still I beg you to let the thread lengthen. Not for thunder, not for war… let me remain long enough to see my Love once more."

As Comic Book Movie points out, the "Love" that Thor is speaking about isn't revealed in the brief clip, but it's highly likely that it is his adopted daughter Love. In 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder, the hero agreed to raise the daughter of Gorr the God Butcher as his own, with the two warriors becoming known as Love and Thunder. Love is, of course, played by Hemsworth's own daughter India.

Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be a big one for Thor (along with its sequel Avengers: Secret Wars). The last original Avenger still actively engaging in the same original heroic MCU role, he is expected to be one of the main characters of the movie (seemingly confirmed when Hemsworth's name was the first officially announced by Marvel during the full cast reveal earlier this year). There are also reports that the two films will act as a two-part send-off for the hero, potentially raising questions about the rumored Thor 5 (and that unanswered Love and Thunder post-credits scene).

Meanwhile, given the prominence that Thor's brother Loki has had throughout the Multiverse Saga - and the fact that Tom Hiddleston is among the many returnees in Avengers: Doomsday - fans are anticipating a major reunion here for the Asgardian brothers. We can't wait for that!

This apparent Avengers: Doomsday trailer leak comes off the back of the first teaser making its way online, shortly before the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day inexplicably leaked as well.

Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
