Daredevil: Born Again episode 9 release time, preview, and what to expect

The season 1 finale of Daredevil: Born Again could lead to multiple cliffhangers and set Matt Murdock on a different path as the Man Without Fear.

Matt Murdock and Dr. Heather Glenn had their first argument in Daredevil: Born Again's previous episode after she was personally invited by Mayor Wilson Fisk’s assistant/hitman to his black-tie event. Meanwhile, Fisk and Vanessa’s relationship begins to recover as they get over their issues when Fisk showed his wife what he had done to Adam. The episode ended with Vanessa killing her former lover and the Fisk's relationship getting stronger. I don’t know if it’s beautiful, sick, codependent, or all three.

"We're not serving justice here, you know? We're babysitting chaos."
Matt Murdock

Before everything with the two couples, Poindexter (Bullseye) is moved from solitary confinement to the prison's general population (a.k.a. gen-pop). Since Poindexter was once a cop, it's in his best interest to avoid other prisoners. Putting him among them is an easy way for him to be killed or attacked by the inmates. But Mayor Wilson Fisk had him moved.

After being transferred, Bullseye contacts Matt to see if he could get him put back in solitary. Of course, Matt says no and is annoyed that he even asked. Unfortunately, Matt’s anger gets the best of him. He beats Poindexter’s head into the table, causing Bullseye to get a loose tooth. Like in Marvel Comics’ Bullseye’s Greatest Hits, Poindexter uses that loose tooth as a weapon to help him escape prison.

During the Fisk event, Matt realizes that Vanessa was the one who had Bullseye kill Foggy. While Matt confronts her, Bullseye is setting up to shoot and kill Wilson. Matt hears the sniper rifle being used and jumps into the path of the bullet intended for Wilson Fisk. Episode 8 of Daredevil: Born Again ends with Matt bleeding on the floor from the gunshot.

What to expect in episode 9

Shows with intentions of being renewed conclude their season with cliffhangers, and Daredevil: Born Again may well have two. Foggy Nelson's death in the series premiere has fans hoping that the finale will reveal that he will be that Foggy Nelson is alive and in protective custody (something that happened in the comics). Also, Foggy wasn’t celebrating with his last drink. He wanted to have a special one since he knew his life (as he knew it) was over. It may also be why he took a shot when he flirted with Kirsten McDuffie. He had nothing to lose.

Speaking of Kirsten McDuffie, she may learn that Matt is Daredevil or will start to assume. As I’ve said in a previous article, she’s intelligent. There’s no way she hasn’t started piecing things together. It wouldn’t be shocking if she’s known for a while and hoped Matt would eventually tell her.

It’s not shocking that BB Urich took Daniel Blake’s deal because BB understood that she was in danger. However, like her Uncle Ben Urich, BB shows she has what it takes to be a fearless reporter when she goes to the police commissioner during Fisk’s black-tie event. Maybe it's BB Matt goes to when he reveals to the world that he’s the Man Without Fear. We'll have to wait for the season finale to find out.
