Viewers are eager for the return of Daredevil: Born Again with Season 2 on Disney+. Let's hope the action-packed Marvel drama pays homage to its source material and brings to life certain comic book moments.
During the first season finale, "Straight to Hell", Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) unleashed his wrath on New York. As Fisk's corrupt task force took over the streets during the blackout, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) recognized that they were about to face a growing number of enemies.
With Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), a.k.a. The Punisher, captured, their number of allies was dwindling. Murdock realized it would take more than Daredevil to end Fisk's reign of terror, telling Karen "We need an army".
The Defenders reunite

In 2017, writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist David Marquez worked on the superhero team series, The Defenders. The lineup included Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil. We know that the four heroes headlined the Netflix Defenders series and fans have wondered about the whereabouts of the other three heroes ever since Daredevil returned in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It has now been confirmed that Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and now is the perfect opportunity to bring back Finn Jones and Mike Colter as their live-action counterparts. With The Punisher added into the mix, it would be interesting to see how Frank's hardboiled personality would react to Jessica's cynicism and Luke's tough demeanor.
Matt needs an army, so let's give him one!
Leader of The Hand
If Matt is thinking about bringing in an army to stop the Kingpin, then he's probably going to need a clan of cold-blooded killers to go after an unstoppable task force. In Andy Diggle and Roberto De La Torre's Daredevil: Shadowland, Matt has taken over The Hand.
As the leader of The Hand, he intends to use the ninja clan as a force for good and justice. Unfortunately, unchecked power always leads to corruption. The Disney Plus drama has highlighted how Daredevil and Kingpin are similar in nature, and this would be another great way to show that.
FOGGY NELSON: DEAD OR ALIVE?

During the opening minutes of the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again, "Heaven's Half Hour," Matt's best friend, Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), is murdered by the assassin Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) was the one who ordered the hit after she discovered Foggy investigating her illegal activities.
Could Foggy have realized his life was in danger and somehow faked his death, like in Ed Brubaker and Michael Lark's Devil in Cell Block D? No one in comics ever dies, unless you're Peter Parker's Uncle Ben.
The Woman Without Fear
Elodie Young played the role of Elektra Natchios in the Netflix Daredevil series and she reprised it in the spinoff The Defenders. In mid-April, Young addressed a possible return to the world of Daredevil during a video interview with POC Culture. She said:
"Oh, absolutely. That was one of the greatest characters that I had to play. Elektra is just a wonderful nutcase! We’ll see. If they call me, I will respond for sure. It’s just so much fun.”
In 2023, in Daredevil #25, Elektra takes on The Woman Without Fear mantle after Matt is put behind bars. If she Young were to reprise her role in the MCU show, it would be interesting to see if Elektra were to put on a version of the Daredevil suit. Her and Matt often disagreed about his code as a crime-fighting vigilante, so that could be a great storytelling opportunity to see how she would function in the role of hero.
The Election
Just as he did in the comics, Wilson Fisk launched a campaign to run as a candidate in the Big Apple's mayoral election. He won and became the mayor of New York City and he wasted no time in abusing that power. If Fisk expects to continue in that power, he will have to run for re-election to serve a consecutive term. That could lead to an interesting story adaptation if the show were to take a time jump.
During the Devil's Reign crossover in 2021, Luke Cage decides to combat Fisk by running as mayor. If Mike Colter returned to the role, Luke could emphasize the social commentary and debate how Fisk allowed bad cops to target minorities during a city-wide crisis.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is scheduled to return in March 2026.
