The previous episode of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 ended on a shocking note. Yes, stunningly, it looks like Bullseye has accomplished his goal of killing Vanessa Fisk. Not only that, but he did it in front of another one of his enemies, her husband, Mayor Wilson Fisk.
At first, it looked like the Kingpin had blocked the glass New York City/Wilson Fisk commemorative object, but fans of Bullseye knew better. Poindexter likely threw the murder weapon exactly where Fisk could hit it, knowing that the shards would break and hit Vanessa. So, Bullseye didn't just get the satisfaction of killing her; he knows Fisk will probably blame himself, too. It was a two-for-one shot.
Before Fisk could realize what happened, Daredevil showed up and saved Poindexter from being shot by Fisk. Since Vanessa was seemingly killed in front of dozens of witnesses, who also saw Daredevil protect Bullseye from the Anti-Vigilante Task Force, the Kingpin will likely have more support from the politicians and more of an excuse to go harder against his enemies. However, things could go sideways for Mayor Fisk quickly if he’s not careful. And, trust this writer, the Kingpin won't be moving cautiously.

What to expect in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 5
Throughout history, you can see that people can only be pushed so far before they push back. Or, to put it in comic book context, there’s a line that Captain America tells Peter Parker in Amazing Spider-Man No. 537. “This nation was founded on one principle above all else: The requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world -- No, YOU move.”
The context here is that Fisk’s need for revenge is about to push New Yorkers too far. As Jack “Swordsman” Duquesne told Daredevil in the previous episode, he is no longer just a hero. The Man Without Fear has become a symbol. And, if I had to guess, episode 5 is where we see the beginning of civilians standing up against Fisk and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force goons more than ever.

Furthermore, we're also going to see the fallout of the previous episode, particularly when it comes to Vanessa's apparent death. The Kingpin's beloved wife has been his North Star all throughout his tenure as a villain in the MCU, so how will he react to potentially losing her?
Viewers, on the other hand, might not lose her right away as the first episodic stills for the upcoming episode confirm that we're getting flashbacks to Vanessa prior to her first meeting with Wilson Fisk in season 1 of Netflix's Daredevil.

As you can see Ayelet Zurer is sporting Vanessa's shorter hair style, which was a fixture of the character's appearance in the first season of the original show. What's more is that Vanessa appears to be in her classic art gallery - the same art gallery in which she met both Wilson Fisk and Matt Murdock for the first time in that same season.
Speaking of Matt, this is also expected to be the episode in which Elden Henson returns as Foggy Nelson for a brief flashback cameo appearance, suggesting that we might see the young Attorneys At Law in action. And with that, it might just feel like season 1 of the original series all over again.

Back in the present, however, Matt will have his hands full with Bullseye. The two longtime foes traded blows twice in the fourth episode. Although Bullseye no longer considers himself Daredevil's enemy (even helping him at times), the Devil of Hell's Kitchen is determined to prevent him from killing others - even bad guys. And that has spiralled out of control as Daredevil wasn't able to prevent the attack on Vanessa.
The two are once again set to go face-to-face in tonight's episode, confirming that there will definitely be some present-day fallout despite the flashbacks. We're in for a layered episode, that's for sure!
