Invincible has had plenty of emotional moments, but the sixth episode of season 3 could be at the top of the list. Viewers have seen civilians die when superheroes fight. The difference is that this is the first time someone has done something about it.
Scott Duvall’s sister and her daughter were killed during Invincible and Omni-Man’s brawl. Unfortunately, neither of the heroes were held accountable for their actions. Scott tried to go through the proper channels and even contacted a district attorney. When all of that failed, he took matters into his own hands, upgrading his powers, and changing his name to Powerplex. He then tried to kill Invincible. Sadly, not only does he fail, he accidentally kills his wife and baby son in the process. Despite putting them in harm’s way, Powerplex still blames Invincible.
Mark is distraught thinking about the damage he’s done and not even Eve can cheer him up. He’s so distracted that he doesn’t see the orb watching him. It's the same one observing his family in the season's third episode (which was controlled by Angstrom Levy). Watching with him are 15 versions of Mark Grayson ready to attack Earth.
WARNING! UPCOMING SPOILERS FOR INVINCIBLE SEASON 3, EPISODE 7!
The Invincible comic book has five story-changing moments that directly affect Mark Grayson (Invincible). The first was Mark learning the true purpose of Nolan (Omni-Man) coming to Earth and fighting him later. The second is set to happen in the final two episodes of season 3 as 15 versions of Invincible are coming to Earth to destroy everything and expand the Viltrumite Empire - and someone deadlier shows up.
Mark wasn’t a major factor in the comics during the Invincible War. He spent most of his time in the hospital caring for Atom Eve after she was gravely injured by one of Mark’s variants. Meanwhile, the rest of the heroes protected Earth. However, that’s likely to change when it comes to the TV adaptation.
Fans of the comic book have already seen changes within the series and this should be another one. It would make more sense for Atom Eve to be a big part of defeating the Invincibles. Having her on the sidelines does nothing for the story or her character. But letting her beat ruthless Invincibles makes her look stronger and shows how powerful the next challenger is.
