Jessica Jones is back in action, and Krysten Ritter is sharing how it feels for the PI to be rejoining the MCU!
Before the current wave of Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on Disney Plus, Netflix was the first to showcase a small-screen Marvel universe. It began with Daredevil before moving onto Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. That led to the four street-level heroes coming together in The Defenders.
Sadly, as Marvel and Disney exerted more influence, the Netflix shows were cancelled and eventually removed from the streamer. Thankfully, the characters are returning as Daredevil: Born Again has acted as a direct sequel to the Netflix show, with Charlie Cox back as The Man Without Fear.
That had fans excited about the possibility of some of the other Netflix heroes coming back. Those hopes were met as it's confirmed that season 2 of Born Again will have Krysten Ritter reprise her role as super-strong, cynical private eye Jessica Jones. Even better is the actress being as excited as fans to see Jessica back on the case.

Krysten Ritter opens up about Jessica Jones' return to the MCU
While she had certainly been notable in roles on Breaking Bad, Veronica Mars and other shows, Jessica Jones truly raised Krysten Ritter's profile in Hollywood. Since that show ended, she has kept busy, starring in the short-lived Orphan Black: Echoes and she is also currently starring in Dexter: Resurrections.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Ritter shared that being back in Jessica's shoes is more exciting to her and hints at what to expect about Jessica's return.
"It's very exciting. I am very thrilled to be back in Jessica's boots. There's more story for her and it's really exciting… Oh, it's gritty. It feels big too. The crew's amazing. I've had an amazing experience. I can't say anything, but I love being with Charlie [Cox]. It was as if no time had passed. Like, my first day, I was looking around like we're back. But juxtaposing it with Mia [her Dexter Resurrection character] and Jessica has been really creatively fulfilling for me as an artist and just what a big, big banner year I'm having. I think the fans are going to be very, very thrilled. We're doing some cool stuff."
Fans will be happy to hear Ritter's assurance the character retains the gritty tone of her own show. Born Again wonderfully captured the same vibe of the Netflix show, not watering down the violence. That's bigger for Jessica, already a dark character and that sardonic tone is what makes her so loved by fans.
Just what Jessica's role in Born Again will be is unclear for now. Normally, the logical idea would be that Matt Murdock reaches out to her for help on a case, with Jessica's investigation skills always needed. However, with Daredevil clearly requiring a team after the events of the first season, he might reach out to her for help taking down the Kingpin once and for all. Hopefully, her return will also update fans on what's been happening with Jessica's life and the supporting cast of her show, such as best friend Trish.
It'd also be great if this paved the way for the return of Mike Colter as Luke Cage and Finn Jones as Iron Fist. At least Disney is finally recognizing the Defenders shows as part of the MCU and Ritter is happier than anyone to see Jessica Jones coming back with her unique style.
