It's been seven years since we last saw Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble on the big screen. Seven years in which Steve Rogers has been out of the picture, the Hulk hasn't turned into his savage self, and Robert Downey Jr. has not been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, all of that is about to change. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Avengers: Doomsday, and yet all pale in comparison to knowing we'll watch the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Wakandans, Thunderbolts, and Avengers all come together for the first time in cinematic history.

Unfortunately, there is one big problem: most of the world hasn't seen all these characters come together just yet... save for a lucky few. See, Marvel showcased the first official Avengers: Doomsday trailer for attendees present at CinemaCon 2026. According to descriptions of the footage, Steve Rogers and Thor were seen together, while there were glimpses of the X-Men fighting Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Since that day, fans worldwide have been eager to see this footage, and July could finally make those wishes come true.

The first Avengers: Doomsday trailer (and a major Hall H panel) is expect to be released at San Diego Comic-Con in July

There have been multiple occasions on which Marvel could've publicly released the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer. The first one was during CCXPMX, which took place a little over one week after CinemaCon. Later, it was speculated that the footage could be attached to the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu. When that didn't happen, a cryptic tease by the Russo Brothers had the entire world hoping that SXSW London would finally break the curse. Now, only one option remains: San Diego Comic-Con 2026.

Doubling down on this theory, Marvel fans have spotted Avengers: Doomsday banners at the San Diego Convention Center, confirming that the movie will have some presence at the event. Adding fuel to the fire, it has been reported that Hasbro intends to reveal its first wave of Avengers: Doomsday Marvel Legends figures at SDCC. The lineup of toys is rumored to include Thor, Doctor Doom, Steve Rogers, and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man.

It would be incredibly odd for Tobey's comeback to be confirmed with a figure and nothing else. As such, it isn't far-fetched to assume that Marvel intends to showcase the iconic veteran in the very first Avengers: Doomsday trailer. The timing would certainly make sense, as the footage could later be attached to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, letting Spidey fans know that a version of the wall-crawler will be present in the biggest superhero crossover to date.

Marvel has had a big presence at SDCC in previous years. The studio usually takes the Hall H panel by storm with shocking announcements. After all, it was there that Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the MCU as Doctor Doom was announced in the first place. Unfortunately, the superhero giant missed out on SDCC 2025, opting instead to dedicate its energy to filming Avengers: Doomsday.

Now that post-production on Earth's Mightiest Heroes' upcoming adventures is underway, there should be many VFX shots completed for Marvel to tweak and upgrade the trailer showcased at CinemaCon. While it's true that the Avengers movies are among the few that could succeed at the box office without having a single trailer released, Disney won't risk it after Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps were released to underwhelming commercial receptions.

Everyone wants to get a glimpse at the next big MCU crossover, and that day should be nearly here. To make things more interesting, Marvel is likely to showcase other projects at SDCC, such as VisionQuest and Daredevil: Born Again season 3. As if that wasn't enough, it has been reported that the new X-Men cast will also be unveiled at the event.

July will be a huge month for Marvel fans. We kick things off with the release of X-Men '97 season 2. We'll then uncover what surprises the studio has prepared for us at SDCC. To cap things off, Spider-Man will return to the big screen after nearly half a decade, courtesy of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Bright days lie ahead of us, and we can't wait to see how it all pans out.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
