For months, Marvel fans have been asking one question: When is the Avengers: Doomsday trailer coming out? It's a question that has come earlier than even those fans expected it to, for it was never a realistic possibility that Marvel Studios would unveil the first full-length teaser trailer for a movie coming out in December as early as spring. Well, you know, it wasn't until they did.
The studio screened a special trailer for Avengers: Doomsday for audiences at CinemaCon in April, very quickly leaving fans all around the world in awe. That's shocking, especially when you consider that the trailer was never released online, but the detailed footage breakdowns offered up a lot of insight into what actually went down in it. And, despite reports that it might release online here or there in the months since (with some very realistic possibilities), it didn't happen.
The good news is that the field has been cleared, leaving just one option for when the trailer will finally be unveiled.
The Avengers: Doomsday trailer is now expected to premiere at SDCC
There are no two ways about it now: The Avengers: Doomsday trailer is coming at San Diego Comic-Con next month. Marvel Studios is set to make its triumphant return to Hall H after skipping last year's even to work on that very film, and it's the only 100% Marvel Studios movie on the horizon (Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a joint-release with Sony, who oversees marketing), meaning that the studio will certainly use the grand stage of SDCC to unveil the first trailer for the movie.
In case you weren't convinced, Avengers: Doomsday banners have already started going up at the San Diego Convention Center ahead of the event. And this new information backs up what industry insiders have been suspecting for some time now, for Marvel's decision to sidestep major events like the Super Bowl ad spots andThe Mandalorian and Grogu's theatrical release has left just one option.
It had to be San Diego Comic-Con. The event has become synonymous with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Kevin Feige and various MCU cast / crew members have made some pretty enormous announcements there over the years. Their absence at the event last year was felt, but it was always on the hope that they would return with a larger-than-life panel the next year. Now, that panel is upon us.

While Marvel does have multiple TV shows in the works to promote (VisionQuest, Daredevil: Born Again season 3, Wonder Man season 2), the main event of the panel will undoubtedly be Avengers: Doomsday. Don't forget, it was two years ago at this very event that Feige and the Russo Brothers officially announced that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would become Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr.'s casting as Doctor Doom being revealed. It was one of the most awe-inspiring moments in Marvel Studios' two-decade history and it really highlighted the gravity that came with Avengers: Doomsday - as Marvel was committed to steadying the MCU ship after some misfires.
Therefore, the studio's absence last year felt understandable as they prepared that very movie. It is only fitting that they will return to promote it, offering up a first look at their work at the very same event that it all started for Avengers: Doomsday. And honestly, there is no reason to think that they won't promote it. From CinemaCon to SXSW London and CineEurope, it has been at the forefront of the studio's con circuit promotion; you can rest assured that it will be the main event of SDCC.
Marvel has been committed to keeping Avengers: Doomsday at the forefront of the conversation in general all year. Heck, you can even reach back to last year to confirm as much. In December 2025, the studio unveiled four character-centric teasers that could be attached to Avatar: Fire and Ash's theatrical releases. Each one was released exclusively in movie theaters on a weekly basis, with an online release coming the week after each one's debut.
With that in mind, here's a look at the studio's Avengers: Doomsday marketing thus far:
- Steve Rogers teaser debuts in theaters - Dec 15, 2025
- Thor trailer debuts in theaters - Dec 22, 2025
- X-Men trailer debuts in theaters - Dec 29, 2025
- Black Panther / Fantastic Four trailer debuts in theaters - Jan 2026
- Avengers: Doomsday trailer released at CinemaCon - April 16, 2026
- Doctor Doom pop-up coffee shop at SXSW London - June 2, 2026
- Avengers: Doomsday footage shown at CineEurope - June 24, 2026
Yes, it's odd for a movie to start the marketing campaign a whole year out from its release, but that just highlights how invested Marvel Studios is in making Avengers: Doomsday the biggest success story that it can be. Granted, this has resulted in fans asking for more footage earlier than they normally (the CinemaCon trailer debacle) but it has resulted in buzz for the movie over the course of the past six months. And now, we're heading into the six months that we actually expected the promo cycle to take effect in. Considering all of the leaks that the movie has faced recently, it's not a moment too soon!
With San Diego Comic-Con on the horizon, everything will take place as it normally would have. This is the event that Marvel Studios will use to officially launch the Avengers: Doomsday press cycle, and that will likely come with the debut of the first full-length teaser trailer. In a way, the studio got to have its cake and eat it: Dropping crumbs early on before officially kicking things off at the place we all expected it to begin anyway.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
