Few superhero projects can generate as much excitement and anticipation as an Avengers movie. Unfortunately, seven years have gone by, and Earth's Mightiest Heroes haven't assembled on the big screen after defeating Thanos and his forces. Throughout this time, we've witnessed new characters enter the mix and the multiverse collapse on separate occasions. But now, the pieces are finally set for a group of remarkable people to be brought together to fight the battles we never could.
Avengers: Doomsday is nearly here, and fans are eager to get a glimpse at the most ambitious superhero project ever created. The four teaser trailers released so far for the film have gathered over a billion views combined, but the first full-length trailer still eludes most of the world. The lucky few who attended CinemaCon 2026 watched the trailer for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover, so the question now becomes: When will it be available to everyone? While Disney has refused to give us a definite answer, a new report has finally ended the mystery.
Marvel will reportedly release the Avengers: Doomsday trailer at San Diego Comic-Con and confirm Tobey Maguire's role in it
After Marvel showed the Avengers: Doomsday trailer exclusively to CinemaCon attendees, there were three likely dates on which the studio could decide to make the footage available to the rest of the world: a week later at CCXPMX, in May with the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu, and during SDCC in July. Unfortunately, the first two events have come and gone without a single mention of Earth's Mightiest Heroes' upcoming adventure. So, not only is SDCC the only remaining option, but a report also supports the idea that Marvel is preparing something big for the occasion.
According to Sammy's Collectable Toys Hall, Marvel will reveal the Avengers: Doomsday trailer at SDCC. Furthermore, Hasbro will also take this opportunity to unveil its first wave of Avengers: Doomsday Marvel Legends figures, which will include: Doctor Doom, Thor, Captain America, and a version of Spider-Man who isn't Tom Holland.
While it wasn't specified whether we'll see Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man in Avengers: Doomsday, multiple reports indicate the latter will be the one to take the spotlight. Set pictures presumed to be real and not created with AI have given us a look at Tobey in his costume, while the film's opening sequence is rumored to feature a big fight between him and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

A different report indicates that Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will also be one of the main characters in Avengers: Secret Wars. If that were to be the case, it's safe to say that his version of the wall-crawler will play an instrumental role in the culmination of the MCU's Multiverse Saga. That's why Marvel could decide to reveal his role ahead of time, just as with Chris Evans' Steve Rogers.
Granted, it's unlikely that our first-ever look at Tobey's Spider-Man in the film will come courtesy of an action figure and nothing more. As such, it isn't far-fetched to assume that the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday trailer could show him in some capacity, and maybe Tobey could attend SDCC himself.
It would be fitting for Marvel to make such a reveal ahead of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That way, not only could the trailer be attached to the wall-crawler's upcoming film, but fans of the character would see Tobey back in action and have another reason to watch Avengers: Doomsday.
Of course, it's always best to take all rumors with a grain of salt. However, after Marvel missed out on its iconic Hall H panel during SDCC 2024, it's safe to say the studio will return with a bang, especially with Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars on the horizon. Fortunately, it won't be long before fans discover what surprises the superhero giant has prepared for us.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
