Major Marvel stars return in the first Daredevil: Born Again season 2 trailer

The NYCC trailer for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 featured some major returning stars from one particular Marvel franchise. Let's break it all down and see who they were.

There are plenty of things to be excited for as a Marvel fan in the coming year. Obviously, Avengers: Doomsday is the big one - the main event - of 2026, coming at the end of the year, setting the stage for the Multiverse Saga's conclusion, but there is plenty of exciting content coming from the Marvel Cinematic Universe leading up to that. From VisionQuest to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, 2026 is going to be a good year for MCU fans.

Another major win is going to be Daredevil: Born Again season 2. The first season of the Disney Plus show was very well-received earlier this year, and it has set the table for a much stronger second season too. And the lucky fans who were in attendance at New York Comic-Con got a sneak peek of what to expect from the upcoming sophomore installment.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2's NYCC trailer features seven Marvel Netflix stars

As reported by The Direct, the first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 premiered at New York Comic-Con and it features seven major Marvel stars who appeared in the beloved Marvel Netflix shows, and that just confirms that fans' long-awaited hopes of seeing this beloved franchise back on our screens has come to fruition.

While the trailer has since leaked online, we will not be showcasing it here. Instead, we will break it down using the actual footage breakdown that was publicly released after it premiered exclusively for the NYCC audiences. As for who those returning Marvel Netflix characters are? Let's break it down for you.

The obvious one is of course Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil himself. Charlie Cox reprises his role as Marvel's Devil of Hell's Kitchen, swinging into action to take on the nefarious Kingpin after making his triumphant return to screens as part of the MCU. Cox has appeared in MCU fare since his cameo in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home and has since reprised the role in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, Echo, and of course, Daredevil: Born Again seaosn 1. It's obviously no surprise that he's leading the character in the second season of his own show, but it is so fulfilling to see him back in action.

Next up, we have Deborah Ann Woll reprising her role as Karen Page. Karen was one of the fixtures of Netflix's original Daredevil series, and she made guest appearances in the season premiere and finale of Born Again. We know that she will have a far greater role in the second season, which is undoubtedly one of the things that fans are most looking forward to.

Ayelet Zurer is back as Vanessa Fisk and that's something we should all celebrate. Marvel pulled a reverse-recast at the beginning of Daredevil: Born Again's journey after it had cast Sandrine Holt in the role, only to completely change course and pivot back to Zurer who played the role in the original Netflix series. This was the confirmation we needed that the show would be that sequel to the Netflix franchise that we were hoping for - and not a spinoff set in an alternate earth. According to the breakdown of the new trailer, Vanessa is seen at a dinner event.

Another obvious one is that Vincent D'Onofrio reprises his role as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin. Daredevil's long-standing archenemy, he was elected to the position of New York City mayor in the first season of the Disney Plus revival and has been making full use of his corrupt power ever since. He's the reason that Matt Murdock has had to assemble an army of heroes and you know rightly that the two old foes will collide once again in the new season.

The season 2 trailer even teases him getting in on the action again - and as we've come to know from his reign of terror in the past, him getting involved only leads to violence.

Wilson Bethel also returns as Benjamin Poindexter, a.k.a. Bullseye, in what might come as a surprise to fans. "Dex" was the primary villain of the third season of the original Daredevil series but he returned for a number of episodes of Born Again too, infamously killing Foggy and escaping to exact revenge on Fisk. As he was betrayed by the Kingpin, it's really quite possible that he will join Daredevil's team of resistance warriors - and this is something that the season 2 trailer alludes to as Daredevil offers him a hand. But given the history between him and Matt, that might be easier said than done.

Elden Henson also makes a brief appearance in the trailer as Foggy Nelson. Foggy was a major part of the original Netflix series - the heart of the show alongside Matt and Karen - but his character was shockingly killed off in the opening moments of Born Again's pilot episode. Marvel's Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that he will reprise his role in the second season, so you can bet that all those Foggy fans out there are confused - but excited - to see how that happens.

And that brings us to... the BIG one! Krysten Ritter returns as Jessica Jones!

The character's comeback is both eagerly-anticipated and long-awaited, and we have to be honest and say it just might be the most exciting aspect of season 2. Ritter was a major part of the Netflix Marvel shows, headlining her own series for three seasons and appearing in spinoff The Defenders alongside Cox, as well as the stars of Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Fans have been waiting for her return for years, and to see her return to screens - particularly in the MCU - is just too darn exciting!

The segment of the trailer that leaked the most, it features Jessica sharing a brief reunion with Daredevil himself, while also offering up some snapshots of her in action. It's clear that this is just scratching the surface when it comes to her role in the second season, and we can't wait to see what that looks like.

Matt clearly recruits his friend and ally in the fight against the Kingpin, but the reunion has left fans wondering if we might see Finn Jones and Mike Colter return as Iron Fist and Luke Cage too. Who better to stop the Kingpin than The Defenders? And let's not forget that Jon Bernthal's Punisher is also expected to appear in some capacity too.

Needless to say, we can't wait for Marvel Studios to release the trailer online or, more likely, make a brand new one for worldwide audiences. And with just a few months until the season 2 premiere, the new look at the upcoming season probably isn't too far away.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 arrives on Disney Plus on March 4, 2026.
