In the myriad of rumors, updates, and revelations regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it can be hard to keep track of what's actually going on in the beloved franchise. The MCU is, after all, the most successful movie franchise of all time so, with the added aspect of Disney Plus shows and Special Presentations in the mix, there is a lot to keep track of when it comes to the Multiverse Saga.
That can often lead to conflicting reports, as some insiders say one thing and other scoopers say another. And with actors unsure of what they are supposed to tease, you could think one thing only to find out another. The truth is that we can only know things are set to happen for sure when Marvel either confirms it or simply releases the project.
However, there is one long-standing report that Marvel has officially confirmed as accurate, meaning that one beloved character will return to the MCU despite their apparent death. The only question is: Will they actually return from the dead?
Marvel's Brad Winderbaum confirms Foggy Nelson will be back in Daredevil: Born Again season 2
We haven't seen the last of Foggy Nelson! Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, has doubled down on comments he made earlier this year, confirming that Elden Henson will reprise his role as the beloved Nelson, Murdock, and Page lawyer in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again.
There had been conflicting reports about whether the character would be involved in the show again beyond the premiere episode, but Winderbaum is setting the record straight, telling Entertainment Weekly at New York Comic-Con:
"I actually haven't seen the quote, but I can tell you he is in season 2... People don't know what they're allowed to say and what they're not allowed to say, also. 'Do I play it coy? Do I be honest?' It's always a dance."
Winderbaum had previously claimed that both Foggy and Karen Page (played by Deborah Ann Woll) would be involved in season 2, but fans queried how the former could return given the fact that he is dead. In one of the most shocking moments of the revival series, Foggy was gunned down by Bullseye at the behest of Vanessa Fisk, which left fans of the original Netflix Daredevil series understandably upset. And yet Winderbaum happily revealed that we hadn't seen the last of him.

In the near-year since the show's premiere, there have been back-and-forth about what that invovlement could look like, with some even theorizing that he might not return at all. And then, during LA Comic Con, Henson himself actually surprised fans with the revelation that he wouldn't be appearing, telling the audiences: "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s just not happening".
Needless to say, Winderbaum's recent comments do now suggest that Henson was simply following the typical Marvel protocol of claiming that they are not involved in a bid to protect any secrets and / or returns from spilling out when they are not supposed to. We know that Foggy will make some kind of appearance in season 2, but the question is: How?
Foggy's return will likely be a flashback (but we'd welcome a full-time return, too)
We know that anything is literally possible in the MCU - and that could extend to Daredevil: Born Again now that we know these characters are officially part of this franchise now - but the world of Daredevil and his friends has always opted for more grounded, straightforward storytelling, so a lot of fans are ruling out the possibility that Foggy might return from the dead.
Don't get us wrong, we would love to see Foggy return - particularly in a bait-and-switch reveal that would have suggested he never really died in the first place and simply went into witness protection to evade Vanessa Fisk's attacks - but it seems unlikely that this will be the route that the Disney Plus series takes when his return has already been confirmed in an interview. Wouldn't it make more sense to maintain the surprise to that?
The more likely option here would be that Foggy appears in a flashback or dream that Matt Murdock or Karen Page have. That would allow Henson to reprise the role, giving fans one more chance to spend some time with the beloved character. And considering how important he was in the original series, we'd spend all the time in the world with him!
But, like, if Marvel did want to bring Foggy back from the dead for real, we absolutely wouldn't complain. Bring back Foggy, let's be honest!
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 premieres on Disney Plus on March 4, 2026.
