The Doomsday clock is ticking. Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be the biggest cinematic event of the year - which is a pretty insane thing to say considering that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has surpassed $2.2 billion in just a few weeks this summer and the studio is gearing up for the heavily-anticipated re-release of 2019's Avengers: Endgame (aptly titled Avengers Endgame: Encore). Yes, it's safe to say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is "so back".
The upcoming MCU film has already set pre-sales records, with a projected $1.5 billion opening weekend looking highly possible according to early estimates. That would be record-breaking, and it highlights the appetite for the big crossover film (which will serve as the 39th MCU movie). And now, Marvel Studios has confirmed that fans will be getting another brand new sneak peek of the film in the not-too-distant future.
Avengers Endgame: Encore will feature a new look at Avengers: Doomsday
It's official: Marvel Studios has confirmed that Avengers Endgame: Encore will feature a brand new look at Avengers: Doomsday. This is obviously a major incentive to see the highly-anticipated re-release of the record-breaking 2019 movie and it once again confirms that the franchise is retroactively tying the Multiverse Saga's conclusion back to the Infinity Saga's conclusion.
The first trailer for Encore has been released and it's quite the emotional experience for Marvel fans, as it features the audience reactions to the original Avengers: Endgame release in 2019, showcasing how fans lost their collective minds over all of the fan-favorite characters' returns in the iconic Portals scene in the final act of the movie. It also teases fans with what they can expect from the re-release, which officially confirms that it will feature a brand new look at the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
The official press release for the new trailer confirms that the special Encore Presentation of the record-breaking film will feature "an exclusive look at the highly anticipated December 18 release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday." However, there's a bit of a twist, as it also confirms that an additional sneak peek will be available to audiences who see the film in IMAX or Infinity Vision-certified screens. Yes, that means that there will be two sneak peeks unveiled in Encore, but only one will be showcased during the standard screening.
The official announcement confirms the long-standing rumors that there will be some kind of new look at Avengers: Doomsday during the re-release. For the past few months, rumors have circulated suggesting that the re-release of Endgame will feature a brand new post-credits scene that directly sets up Doomsday. That's highly possible, as Avengers: Endgame was one of the only Marvel movies not to feature a post-credits scene (as it served as the finale of the Infinity Saga and wrapped up an 11-year story), so there is scope for a new look.
Over the course of the past week, fans were worried that the standard release might not feature any kind of special look at the upcoming movie as it was becoming clear that the IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings would be prioritized, but it's now looking like the studio will pull double duty - offering up the primary look at Avengers: Doomsday in the standard release while also offering up something extra for IMAX / Infinity Vision audiences.

These will mark the newest looks at Avengers: Doomsday as Marvel Studios officially launches the marketing campaign for the film after two trailers this summer. The first of those - although originally screened at CinemaCon back in April - debuted ahead of San Diego Comic-Con in July while the second - although originally screened at SDCC itself - was unveiled at D23 in August.
The road to Avengers: Doomsday goes back through Avengers Endgame: Encore.
Avengers Endgame: Encore arrives in movie theaters on September 25, 2026.
