The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen a great number of leaks in recent weeks. First, the second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day made its way online earlier than anticipated, in poor quality and with large watermarks taking up much of the screen. To keep the trend going, footage from Avengers: Doomsday was also leaked, giving fans a glimpse at some members of Earth's Mightiest Heroes joining forces with the X-Men, New Avengers, and the Fantastic Four to battle an army of Sentinels. Not long after, the return of iconic Marvel veterans in the upcoming crossover was also disclosed thanks to set pictures. But much to the world's surprise, things didn't end there.
Ever since it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. would be back in the MCU as a major antagonistic force, fans have been eager to get a look at his rendition of Doctor Doom. Unfortunately, the four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers released so far didn't showcase the ruler of Latveria in action. And while we've seen designs of him in concept art, the real thing still eluded us... until now.
New Avengers: Doomsday leaked pictures give us our best look yet at Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom
He's the ruler of Latveria, the bringer of Doom, and the future king of Battleworld. Doctor Doom is set to be the next big bad of the MCU, yet his character hasn't been built up throughout the years or appeared in any project to date (save for that very quick cameo in the post-credits scene of The Fantastic Four: First Steps). Attendees at CinemaCon 2026 were able to see him in the closed-doors Avengers: Doomsday trailer that Marvel showcased. Now, the rest of the world is finally able to catch up... thanks to new leaked pictures.
When it was announced that Robert Downey Jr. would portray the role of Victor von Doom, fans were scared that this iteration of the villain would be a multiversal variant of Tony Stark. Many even suspected that his look would somehow include an Iron Man suit, but that's far from the case. The character's design is incredibly comic-book accurate, unlike the villain's depiction in Josh Trank's Fantastic Four (2015).

According to descriptions of the leaked Avengers: Doomsday footage (which Marvel has now started taking down), Doom will be able to control the Sentinels with his magic and pit them against Earth's Mightiest Heroes. As such, there's also the possibility that he'll eventually do the same with the Doombots (perhaps during the events of Avengers: Secret Wars).
A big part of the mystery is why Doctor Doom will share the same face as Tony Stark. Will there be an explanation behind this huge "coincidence"? Well, it has been reported that this will be a tactic used by the supervillain to gain the trust of some big MCU heroes, and it seems such a move could very well pay off. Leaked Avengers: Doomsday concept art depicts the ruler of Latveria sitting on his throne, with Doctor Strange, Sue Storm, and Yelena Belova next to his side, as if they were his servants.
Since it has been confirmed that Doom will be a sorcerer on the big screen, there's a chance that he's simply using magic to resemble Tony Stark, and his real face could look completely different (although that's just speculation on our side). Whatever the case, it's clear the villain will have a comic-accurate look, with a green cloak, silver clasps, and titanium armor.
Fortunately, it shouldn't be long before we get a proper, HD look at the villain in action. While Marvel has declined to confirm when we'll get to see the first full-length Avengers: Doomsday trailer, all signs seem to suggest that such a moment will come during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, which will take place from July 23 to 26. After missing its iconic Hall H panel in 2025, Marvel will look to make a big return to the stage, and what better way to do it than by releasing a better look at their biggest crossover to date?
It has even been rumored that Marvel will decide to reveal that Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will have a role in Avengers: Doomsday during SDCC, so many shocking surprises could definitely come our way next month. But if one thing is for certain, it is that we'll see the ruler of Latveria in some capacity during the event, and the recent leaks will certainly make the wait feel shorter.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released on Dec. 18, 2026.
