Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday has been hyped as one of the darkest chapters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and an alleged leak implies that it will open with an especially shocking battle. Though Doctor Doom is set to be the main villain of this story, Avengers: Doomsday is said to kick off with some of Marvel's most iconic heroes fighting each other.
The reported leak stated that the film will begin with an Incursion threatening to destroy the universe of Fox’s X-Men (Earth-10005) and the universe of Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man. As both worlds face annihilation, this supposed opening will feature some well-known heroes making some horrifying sacrifices to protect those they love.
The X-Men may destroy Spider-Man's universe in the film's opening

According to Reddit, a leak from the Russian Telegram reported that Avengers: Doomsday will open with see Deadpool and Wolverine facing off against Spider-Man in New York City. Wolverine will do much of the fighting against Spider-Man as they battle in the rain near the ruined Daily Bugle. At the same time, Magneto will drop bombs to destroy Spider-Man’s universe and save the X-Men’s.
The scene ends with Spider-Man's universe destroyed and Deadpool and Magneto escaping, leaving Wolverine and Spider-Man behind. Also, remember when Professor X shielded his eyes from a shining explosion in film’s trailer? It is reported that he is witnessing the destruction of Spider-Man’s universe.
This reported opening has yet to be confirmed. However, alleged leaked photos recently circulated on social media that depict Maguire, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds shooting their characters' fight scene. Though Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin and Alfred Molina's Doc Ock were rumored to appear in the opening, the most recent supposed leak says that isn't the case.
Avengers: Doomsday seems set to be especially dark

If the rumors about Doomsday's opening are true, then the X-Men would have resorted to some extremely dark measures in order to save their world from annihilation. Given how beloved Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man is, the X-Men destroying his world seems destined to shock and upset longtime fans.
Despite that, Doomsday's alleged intro hints at the film loosely adapting the Time Runs Out comic storyline, which is a precursor for Secret Wars. Writer Jonathan Hickman's storyline saw the Earth's Mightiest Heroes fracturing over how to protect their universe from a series of Incursions set off by the Beyonders. The comic showed Iron Man and the Illuminati destroying other Earths before they can collide with their own. This narrative ultimately paved the way for Doctor Doom to reshape the Multiverse and rule over Battleworld in the modern Secret Wars storyline.
Such an opening parallels that of Avengers: Infinity War. The latter began Thanos and his followers killing Loki and Heimdall, defeating Thor and the Hulk, and slaughtering half of the Asgardian population. Since Doomsday is the Infinity War of the Multiverse Saga, it’s no surprise that the filmmakers would venture into such dark territories with its characters before the epic finale in Avengers: Secret Wars.
If Deadpool, Wolverine, and Spider-Man are set to fight each other in Avengers: Doomsday, it is too early to tell whether Wolverine or Spider-Man will die in the film. Nevertheless, starting off with the destruction of an entire universe would the establish the massive stakes of Marvel's latest crossover epic.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
