We are still six months out from Avengers: Doomsday but you wouldn't know that to look at the internet. The Marvel Studios movie is shaping up to be the biggest of the year - its main competition at this time is fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day - as fan anticipation continues to build ahead of Robert Downey Jr.'s return to the franchise.
But Doctor Doom hasn't been the only thing setting the internet alight in recent weeks and months. MCU fans have been asking for a brand new trailer for some time now - and for good reason. While it's not typical practice for a studio to release a trailer for a December movie in April or May, Marvel released the first full-length teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday at CinemaCon. The only problem is that it has been months and the new trailer has yet to surface online.
Did I say the only problem? Scratch that - for Marvel has run into the biggest problem that a movie studio making a multi-million dollar movie could: Leaks.
New high-quality potential leaks from Avengers: Doomsday surface online
Marvel movies just can't seem to catch a break. A week after the second trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day leaked online prematurely, Avengers: Doomsday has seemingly encountered its second major leak in a few days. Yes, that's right: What appears to be new, high-quality images have surfaced online, showing a lot of the familiar Marvel stars standing side-by-side during what appears to be the film's big battle sequence. What's even worse is that it looks like this is from the same scene in which the previous bad quality video footage was seemingly taken from.
Yes, over the weekend, a highly pixelated clip began doing the rounds on social media and it seemingly featured the Avengers - which is comprised of the New Avengers, multiple classic Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men - battling what appears to be Sentinels at the command of Doctor Doom. Needless to say, it sent the internet into meltdown. The question is: Was it real?

There's a lot of evidence to argue against it: Although both Spider-Man and Avengers are Marvel movies, one is produced by Sony and the other Marvel Studios, making a leak at both companies highly unlikely. Furthermore, the pixelated footage could be to cover for the shortcomings of an otherwise convincing AI video. And, perhaps most importantly of all, Marvel Studios didn't immediately respond with DMCA takedown requests (whereas Sony did for the Spider-Man leaks situation).
On the other hand of the argument, a number of high-profile scoopers and insiders claimed that it was likely real footage simply obscured by how bad quality it was. That includes some particularly reliable insiders who have a proven track record of success. And that reliability may have just been reinforced by these new apparent leaks.

Two new images have begun making their way around the internet and, from the looks of them they do indeed appear to be from the same battle sequence. They are much better quality and actually look convincing, with the unfinished CGI in the background really leaning into the notion that they could be real scenes from the film ahead of their post-production finalization. They also have the "Property of Marvel" logo across the front of each one.
Based on fan descriptions, these stills feature Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler, Channing Tatum's Gambit, Rebecca Romijn's Mystique, James Marsden's Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer's Beast, Simu Liu's Shang-Chi, Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson / Captain America, the Fantastic Four, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, and Chris Evans' returning Steve Rogers as they prepare for battle against the Sentinels.
Naturally, fan response has been mixed. While some are thrilled at the prospect of seeing an early glimpse of the movie, others are concerned that the potential leaks could damage the film's performance and ultimately harm fan enjoyment - with one even branding them as "catastrophic leaks". And if they are legitimate, it's hard to argue with that.
As anticipation for the real Avengers: Doomsday trailer continues to increase, it's pretty much expected that it will release during the Marvel Studios Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con - placing its predicted release date as that of Saturday, July 25. But if the leaks are real, it might be better that Marvel just rips the bandaid off and releases it early.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in movie theaters on December 18, 2026.
