Marvel officially confirms [SPOILER]'s MCU return in Daredevil: Born Again season 2

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will feature a number of returns. Now Marvel has confirmed one we've suspected for some time.

It's safe to say that the second season of Daredevil: Born Again is one of the most highly-anticipated shows of the month. The Marvel Television series returns to Disney Plus almost exactly a year after its first season premiered, already showcasing the studio's commitment to its new multi-season, annual TV approach to the MCU shows. It's clear that Marvel is investing in this one, and the hype surrounding the second season suggests that investment will be worthwhile.

While the first season did a great job of reviving the world of the gritty Netflix show that came before it, it was all leading to this particular season of television. Multiple cast members have claimed that this is the true revival of Daredevil that fans have been waiting to see, and the multitude of returns, increased roles, and overall grounded feel of the first looks suggest that this will indeed be the case.

But there will also be another return - one that Marvel Cinematic Universe fans are rather familiar with. Now, Marvel has officially confirmed it in the new look at the upcoming season.

New Daredevil: Born Again season 2 teaser confirms Swordsman's return

Marvel Studios has unveiled a brand new teaser for Daredevil: Born Again season 2. Like the previous one, the 30-second clip features new looks at Krysten Ritter's return as Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Karen Page's attempt to take back New York City from the Kingpin, and the action-packed scenes we can expect. Heck, it also features a brand new look at a showdown between Wilson Fisk himself and Matt Murdock as they come face-to-face with each other (as Buck stands by the Kingpin and Karen supports Matt).

However, it also features the first official look at Tony Dalton's return as Jack Duquesne, a.k.a. the Swordsman. The star had previously suggested that he would reprise his role in the second season in what came as a bit of a surprise to fans (as it hadn't been officially announced at the time), but this first look is indeed Marvel's way of confirming that he will return in the sophomore season.

Jack is one of the more unexpectedly popular additions to the MCU's Multiverse Saga. He first appeared in Hawkeye back in 2021 when it was implied that he might secretly be the villain behind the shady goings-on in New York. But it turned out that he, the rather odd stepfather to be of Kate Bishop, was actually completely innocent (it was actually his wife Eleanor who was working with the Kingpin). After that, he showed his true heart when he aided Kate and Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, in saving the city from Fisk.

He hasn't stopped doing that either, as the first season of Daredevil: Born Again revealed that a mysterious Swordsman had begun helping people on the streets of New York City - something that Fisk, who had since become the Mayor - didn't like at all. When Jack wouldn't help him in his nefarious deeds, the convicted felon of a mayor had him imprisoned illegally.

It's going to be interesting to see what kind of a role he plays in season 2, but if we had to speculate, we'd say that Daredevil will likely recruit him. The Devil of Hell's Kitchen is currently building an army of heroes to take a stand against the Kingpin so that they can take back the city from his corrupt reign of terror. He already has the likes of Karen Page, Cherry, Detective Angie Kim, and Josie on his side and the second season will see him expand that reach to include the likes of Jessica Jones and Detective Brett Mahoney. Rumor has it that we could also see Daredevil and Jessica's fellow Defenders, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, make their long-awaited returns too.

So, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 could very well be all about returns. However, the thing that sets Swordsman's apart from the rest is the fact that he was part of the linear MCU franchise before the Netflix shows were re-canonized into the story. Therefore, his cameo in season 1 - along with Yusuf Khan's - was pretty pivotal to welcoming the Daredevil family into the wider, more family-friendly MCU (despite the fact that Born Again is anything but family-friendly).

It goes without saying that we're excited to see the Swordsman back in action when season 2 arrives on our screens.

Daredevil: Born Again season 2 arrives on Disney Plus on March 24, 2026.
