The beauty of watching the shows and movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is that you simply never know who's going to pop up and when it's going to happen. We have seen this so many time throughout the franchise and it never gets old. From Matt Murdock's surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home all the way back to Tony Stark's cameo in The Incredible Hulk, fans just love those moments that make them sit up and point at the screen like that iconic Leonardo DiCaprio meme.
While the Multiverse Saga has had some highs and lows, that is one of the elements that it has pretty much nailed. The multiversal aspects of the stories that are told have allowed for further surprises and cameos from stars who appeared in Marvel projects that aren't even canon to the MCU (Evan Peters in WandaVision and Agatha All Along, Patrick Stewart in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Kelsey Grammer in The Marvels).
But there are always positive reactions whenever there is a cameo or return. And it turns out that one of the most surprise cameos of Phase Five could lead to a more extended return for that character in Phase Six.
Tony Dalton confirms he will return as The Swordsman in Daredevil: Born Again season 2
Tony Dalton has officially confirmed that Jack Duquesne is back in the MCU. The actor, who first appeared in the role in 2021's Hawkeye, recently returned in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again. The unexpected appearance was essentially an extended cameo but it sounds like it will be leading to more, as Dalton has revealed that he will be back in the second season. And better yet, it sounds like Swordsman will even be getting in on the action.
During an interview with ComicBookMovie's Josh Wilding for his new movie Trap House, he spoke a little about the action-packed film while also confirming that he would return to the MCU in the upcoming second season of the Disney Plus show.
"Actually, when you were asking me about [Trap House's] action sequences, that's exactly what I was thinking about in my mind. I did a bunch of action stuff for this next one that's coming out of Daredevil, and man, I got hurt. I got hurt hard... I think I must have chipped a rib or something because for two or three weeks I was in bed. I had bruises all over me."
Needless to say, that's a very exciting reveal indeed, as it suggests that we'll see more of Dalton's quirky character - and as fans have really fallen in love with him, they are so ready to see that happen - especially if it means he'll be getting even more involved than before!
Dalton was one of the standouts of Hawkeye as Kate Bishop suspected that his character was the villain she was searching for. Instead, he was just Jack - her corny future stepdad with a real talent for swordsmanship. It was Kate's mother, Eleanor Bishop, who actually turned out to be the true villain, carrying out the deeds of the Kingpin, Wilson Fisk. Ironically, Jack would end up assisting Kate and Hawkeye himself, Clint Barton, in defeating the villains.
Jack and Fisk came face-to-face in the first season of Daredevil: Born Again when the latter refused to acknowledge the convicted felon as the mayor of New York City, especially as he knew he was going to act illegally. This eventually led to his imprisonment in the Kingpin's dungeon. And as fans have grown quite fond of Jack, they were hoping he would find his way out of there.

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is expected to be about Matt Murdock leading a revolt against the corrupt leader. The season will include the likes of The Punisher, Karen Page, Cherry and other close allies who are looking to step up, but it will also bring back Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones for the first time in seven years. Rumor has it that the other Defenders, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, could also make an appearance to aid their old pals.
Taking all of that into account, Dalton's reveal that he will have some action-heavy content in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 suggests that he could end up being a part of Daredevil's team. After all, we know that the Swordsman had taken up a spot of vigilantism to help fend off bad guys, so what's to stop him from doing it all again on the crimson warrior's team?
We'll have to wait and see how involved Jack Duquesne gets in the feud between Daredevil and the Kingpin, but we won't have to wait too long as Daredevil: Born Again season 2 premieres on Disney Plus on March 4, 2026.
