Jessica Jones is back, and this time she is officially part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios made the groundbreaking announcement during the Disney Upfronts this month, confirming that Krysten Ritter would reprise her iconic role from the Netflix series in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again. That return will see her reunite with Charlie Cox for the first time in almost a decade.
Ritter portrayed the superhuman private investigator in Netflix's Marvel shows, headlining Jessica Jones and co-leading The Defenders (alongside Cox's Daredevil). Her own series ran for three seasons before its untimely cancellation due to the demise of the Netflix / Marvel deal as the studio sought to make TV on the Disney Plus streaming service instead. That decision eventually led us to this point, where Ritter returns as Jones in season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again - the show that officially brought their stories full-circle, welcoming the world of the Marvel Netflix shows into the MCU.
Now, the first look at her return has been revealed.
Krysten Ritter reunites with Charlie Cox in first look Daredevil: Born Again season 2 set photos
The first set photos of Krysten Ritter's return as Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 have arrived. The first of them (which can be viewed here in a tweet) features Ritter suited up in the character's iconic black jacket and jeans combo as she walks alongside Charlie Cox onto set. Cox is wrapped in a large robe, covering up his Daredevil suit.
It's clear that the two former Defenders will be working together as the second image (which can be viewed here) features Ritter and Cox on a rooftop, as their characters appear to be either looking out at the city or preparing to attack someone below. Ritter has her signature Jessica Jones expression on her face in this one while Cox is completely suited up as Daredevil here, donning the character's now-iconic all-black spray-painted suit (which he has been seen wearing through production of the whole season).
But we already knew that the show would feature them working together as the premise of the season involves The Devil of Hell's Kitchen actively seeking out other heroes so that he can form an army to take down Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin. Matt Murdock's longtime archenemy, the Kingpin has become the mayor of New York City and - surprise, surprise - he is abusing that power, launching an Anti-Vigilante Task Force to take down any hero who opposes him (be that Daredevil, Spider-Man, or The Punisher).
Ritter joins Cox, Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, Jon Bernthal, Vincent D'Onofrio, Ayelet Zurer, and Wilson Bethel in reprising her Netflix role in the MCU series. It's a major moment to have Jessica Jones arrive as Ritter is the first cast member from the Netflix shows not to have debuted in Daredevil, meaning that it could open the door for more returns from those shows down the line.
Speaking of which, Ritter and Cox's fellow Defenders stars, Finn Jones and Mike Colter (who portrayed Iron Fist and Luke Cage in the Netflix Marvel saga) are both currently in New York City, leading to a lot off speculation that Matt Murdock is getting the whole band back together. Even with Fisk's resources, taking on all of The Defenders wouldn't leave the odds stacked in his favor.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 premieres on Disney Plus in March 2026.
