If you're a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom, there is a pretty good chance that you have been on the edge of your seat waiting for the first trailer from Spider-Man: Brand New Day. No, we're not talking about the leaked one, we're talking about the official one - which has been a long time coming. Too long in many people's minds.

Spidey's next installment is indeed the next chapter from the MCU franchise, so fans have been asking all the understandable questions about when the first look might be coming. Those questions even made it back to director Destin Daniel Cretton, who offered the first significant update. Now, another one has surfaced, and it might just be the biggest of them all.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer to arrive sooner than anticipated

According to World of Reel, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer is imminent. The outlet, known for its reliability and accurateness, reports that it could literally be released "any day now". This comes after the site spoke to what they credit as a source at Sony Pictures, adding that the preview is expected to be attached to the theatrical release of Project Hail Mary on March 20. Therefore, that strongly suggests that it will be officially released next week (just in time for it to make its debut in theaters).

While this is a pretty significant update as it's the first that places a specific timeframe on the trailer in terms of when we can actually expect it to release, something that gives it more credibility is the fact that it's not the first to predict a March release. A number of insiders have claimed that it will release at some point this month, with one directly referencing the last two weeks of the month. If Sony plans on attaching it to Project Hail Mary's release in movie theaters on March 20, then that will technically fall in line with that predicted release window. However, if it arrives online first next week, that means it will be coming out sooner than originally anticipated.

After months of calling for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios to release the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, Marvel fans might finally be about to get their wish. And honestly, it's well-deserved. After all, the trailer is unusually behind schedule no matter what metric you use to look at it. If we're talking previous Spider-Man movies, two of the Sony / MCU collaborations had unveiled their first looks by this point. The same applies to Marvel's summer blockbusters, with 2024's Deadpool and Wolverine, and 2025's The Fantastic Four: First Steps unveiling their first trailers much, much earlier than this.

The difference here is that Marvel took the beginning of the year to showcase its second big movie this year instead, running a strong marketing campaign for Avengers: Doomsday right out of the gate. This involved releasing four trailers - one a week - throughout the theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, using the large platform of the $1 billion movie to launch the promotional campaign.

Avengers: Doomsday has more riding on its success. While both projects are part of the MCU, Brand New Day has less to lose because Spider-Man is always a draw outside of the franchise. Avengers, on the other hand, is the endgame of the Multiverse Saga - the same saga that has seen a multitude of ups and downs due to overexposure and lacklustre titles.

With Marvel Studios pulling out all the stops for the success of Avengers: Doomsday, bringing in a star-studded cast to help the movie thrive - perhaps bringing back some of those mainstream fans that bowed out after the Infinity Saga concluded - it needs to perform well, especially with a sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, planned for 2027.

But, with those four Avengers: Doomsday trailers receiving positive responses from audiences, Marvel Studios can officially declare a job well done there, allowing them - along with Sony - to focus on Spider-Man: Brand New Day ahead of its summer release. It sounds like we won't have too much longer to wait until the marketing begins.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in movie theaters on July 31, 2026.
