This has been a month of crazy comic book moments. The X-Men find a mutant whose gift didn’t register until he was an adult (X-Men No. 2 by Jed MacKay). Magnus runs away instead of fighting with his Autobot teammates (Transformers No. 11 by Daniel Warren Johnson). And during Gotham City Sirens No. 2 by Leah WIlliams, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman are captured by Punchline.

Those are only the quick hits. Coming up are the five most important comic book moments of the week.

Khonshu orders the death of Moon Knight

  • Comic book: Vengeance of the Moon Knight No. 8
  • Writer: Jed MacKay
  • Artist: Devmalya Pramanik

Marc Spector was tired of blindly killing people on Khonshu’s order and made it a point to avoid it. Unfortunately, it’s a promise to himself that he can’t keep. At the end of Vengeance of the Moon Knight No. 8, Khonshu orders Marc to kill the Shroud.

After Moon Knight died, the Shroud became Moon Knight and ruined everything Marc represented. Marc may not want to kill, but he owes Khonshu for resurrecting him (Blood Hunt No. 4 and Vengeance Of The Moon Knight No. 7). How the rest of the Midnight Mission reacts to Marc's next move will affect the rest of his life.

Vampire life is a gift and a curse

  • Comic book: Miles Morales: Spider-Man No. 23
  • Writer: Cody Ziglar
  • Artist: Federico Vicentini

Miles Morales’ vampirism wasn’t cured at the end of Blood Hunt. While it looked like Miles would be able to add vampire powers with his already growing abilities, they came with a curse. Miles’ venom energy helps keep his vampire urges at bay. However, if he uses too much, it could kill him. We’ll have to keep a close eye on how long this lasts. Miles' venom powers are a big part of his identity as Spider-Man.

Who is the Nightwatcher?

  • Comic book: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Nightwatcher No. 1
  • Writer: Juni Ba
  • Artist: Fero Pe

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles keep on rolling after The Armageddon Game. With the Ninja Turtles disbanding, it was up to someone to protect Mutant Town. The Nighwatcher stepped up to fill the void. But who is the Nightwatcher? It’s none other than Jennika. She may have promised Sheena that her masked days were over, but someone has to defend people from the bullies.

It’s okay that Peter Parker isn’t with MJ

  • Comic book: Amazing Spider-Man No. 55
  • Writer: Zeb Wells
  • Artist: Emilio Laiso

Some Spider-Man fans hate what Amazing Spider-Man has done with Peter Parker. Just as he and Mary Jane Watson start a new and happy life, it's taken away at the beginning of the run. Now, people can forget MJ and Peter being a couple again at least for now. Peter is now dating Ravencroft employee Shay Marken.

This is a good thing. As much as we may want Peter Parker and Mary Jane to be together, change is good. Plus, there’s no guarantee it’ll last forever. And also, this could be a better relationship.

The true All-Father

  • Comic book: Immortal Thor No. 14
  • Writer: All Ewing
  • Artist: Jan Bazaldua

The battle between Zeus and Thor didn’t disappoint. It starts with Zeus throwing lightning at Thor and the God of Thunder asking the lightning bolts to turn away (which they did). Eventually, Hercules tells Thor to endure and he does.

Thor doesn’t just absorb the lightning, he takes all of Zeus’ power with it. Thor leaves the Greek God spent and skinny. Now Thor appears to be the true All-Father and ready to fight the elder gods. However, it came with a price. Hercules doesn’t like what he hears in Thor’s voice after the fight ends.
