This week started with Absolute Power: Ground Zero explaining how Amanda Waller built her Amazo Justice League and got the Brainiac Queen to join her cause. That was just the beginning of an intense comic book week. Here are the other must-know moments from this week’s issues.

Lex Luthor’s amnesia

  • Comic book: Superman No. 15
  • Writer: Joshua Williamson
  • Artists: Rafa Sandoval and Miguel Mendonca

At the end of the issue, Lex Luthor doesn’t remember his name. What's more disturbing is he seemed amazed by the sun and sky. This was one of the smartest men in the world. Who knows where his intellect is at now?

Doomsday is coming

  • Comic book: Superman No. 15
  • Writer: Joshua Williamson
  • Artist: Rafa Sandoval

After defeating Brainiac, Superman and his family will help protect the world from Amanda Waller without their powers (Absolute Power). You’d think they’d get a break after that, but that isn’t happening. The last page of Superman No. 15 shows the familiar fist of Doomsday punching his way out of some kind of prison. We’ll see what happens next after this fall.

Green Arrow believes in Amanda Waller

  • Comic book: Green Arrow No. 13
  • Writer: Joshua Williamson
  • Artist: Amancay Nahuelpan

Oliver Queen has never been a follower. If he believes in something, he’ll do whatever it takes to see it through. However, no one could have predicted he’d believe in Amanda Waller and her plans to stop metahumans. He even went as far as to give Waller Sanctuary and tell Arsenal he can have all of his stuff and that He (Oliver Queen) is no longer Green Arrow.

Oliver Queen has been upset since he found out that the Justice League disbanded (the end of DC Comics' Dark Crisis). Maybe seeing them break up made him rethink the way things are done. Or this could be a trick. If this is a ruse, it’s convincing.

Phil Coulson gets an Infinity Stone

  • Comic book: Thanos Annual No. 1 (Infinity Watch)
  • Writer: Derek Landy
  • Artists: Salvador LarrocaSara Pichelli

During Thanos No. 4 by Christopher Cantwell, the Mad Titan turned Death into the Black Infinity Stone (Death). In 2024's Thanos Annual, Thanos learns that his newest stone can’t kill (defeating the purpose of having a Death Stone). He believes it needs to be around the other Infinity Stones to make that happen.

Thanos ventures to Earth and learns that the stones are inside people. Not only does he fail to take their Infinity Stones, but the Death Stone leaves him to search for a new host. What host does the Death Stone choose? The body of the dead Phil Coulson.

What will the newly resurrected Phil Coulson do with the power of death inside him? That should be revealed in the Marvel Comics event, Infinity Watch.

  • Comic book: X-Men: Heir of Apocalypse No. 2
  • Writer: Steve Foxe
  • Artist: Netho Diaz

The trials to become the heir of Apocalypse continue after En Sabah Nur brings his son (Genocide) to test his possible replacements. During the fight, Armageddon Girl, Rictor, and Monet St. Croix are killed. However, it’s doubtful that's what happened. Apocalypse likely teleported them away. Never trust a death if you don't see the body.

Also, watch out for Mr. Sinister. He poisoned some of the contestants during this issue. He’s probably evening the odds by taking out his competition. This kind of ruthlessness may have En Sabah Nur pick him as an heir.

Blood Hunt News

  • Comic book: Blood Hunt No. 4
  • Writer: Jed MacKay
  • Artist: Pepe Larraz

Issue 1 of Blood Hunt ended with Blade betraying everyone. It seemed weird considering everything he’s fought for. Blood Hunt No. 4 revealed that Blade isn’t in charge. The first vampire named Varnae uses Blade’s body to become, as Varnae put it, the end of all things.

While Varnae reveals their true self, Dr. Strange and Clea travel to Latveria to request the assistance of Victor von Doom (Latveria was the only place not affected by the darkness). Dr. Doom agreed to help, but he needed one thing. Strange had to make him Sorcerer Supreme. Let’s see if Strange grants Doom’s wish and, if he does, if it’s permanent.

Hunter’s Moon and Tigra snuck into Asgard with Wrecker to release Khonshu from his prison (Khonshu tried to take over the world in Avengers: Age of Khonshu). Releasing him gave the Moon God access to his powers. The first thing he did was unleash all the dead Fists of Khonshu to fight the vampires. Leading his army is the best of them all, Marc Spector.
