Spider-Man favorite is no longer in fourth Marvel movie
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe prepares for the final act in its ongoing Multiverse Saga, fans are more ready than ever for some of the movies that are coming out. Of course, you have the major game-changers like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, but you also have the likes of Captain America: Brave New World and The Fantastic Four: First Steps which will also allow us to get to know some of the franchise's most crucial characters a lot better.
There is also the recently-confirmed Spider-Man 4, which is now set to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who has already worked with Marvel Studios on Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings. The film had been quietly in the works for some time, with Marvel and Sony both planning a new trilogy. And after the game-changing Spider-Man: No Way Home brought Tom Holland's webslinger face-to-face with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Men, hopes are extremely high in terms of where the franchise could go next.
However, in spite of some rumors, it sounds like we shouldn't be expecting to see this particular fan-favorite character appear in the movie.
Miles Morales reportedly won't appear in Spider-Man 4
According to a new report from scooper HWScoops (via: Film News), Miles Morales will not be making an appearance in Sony and Marvel Studios' fourth Spider-Man movie. This comes after speculation that the character might appear in the new trilogy in some capacity, making his MCU debut in the process.
The scooper also states that he had been originally planned for an appearance in the film when it was aiming to have a more street-level storyline, but with the reports of a multiversal movie perhaps winning out, those plans have seemingly changed.
That's not to say that there won't be a change of plan again at some point; Marvel movies are an ever-changing landscape with so many moving parts, and that's before they even make it to the screen. But it does suggest that the character may not arrive as soon as fans are hoping - or that, at the very least, it won't happen in Spider-Man 4 (there had been rumors of a potential cameo in Avengers: Secret Wars).
Introduced in Marvel Comics in 2011, Miles Morales has gone on to become as popular as Peter Parker, headlining the critically-acclaimed Into the Spider-Verse movies and playing a major role in the Marvel's Spider-Man video game series, headlining his own spinoff Spider-Man: Miles Morales in the process.
We do know that Miles Morales exists in the MCU. In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland's webslinger crossed paths with Aaron Davis (played by Donald Glover), who told Spidey about his nephew. In the pages of Marvel Comics, Aaron Davis is indeed the uncle of Miles Morales. The moment made for a nice little Easter Egg that fans were very appreciative of, but it also likely laid the groundwork for the character's eventual debut in the MCU.
Needless to say, fans would love to see Miles Morales show up in the franchise sooner rather than later. He's an important part of the Spider-Man lore, and given how impactful the Spider-Verse is to the lore, it would make sense to introduce him in the Mulitverse Saga. That said, given that this new trilogy is supposed to focus on Peter being his own hero (instead of relying on mentors like in previous movies), he might need an adventure or two of his own before he can then be that mentor figure to Miles. Whenever it does happen, however, it will be wonderful to see.
