Star Wars fans may be feeling starved of live-action fare off-late, but those watching the Super Bowl LX would have been reminded that more action from a galaxy far, far away is closer than we think. Disney dropped the big game spot for this summer’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, and the footage is exactly what one would expect from the film about the beloved duo.
Starring Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin / The Mandalorian alongside the always adorable Grogu, what did the Super Bowl spot tease fans with? Eagle-eyed viewers may have also spotted Pedro Pascal was one of the guests in the background of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.
The first trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu was released in September 2025, and it was filled with scenes promising an action-packed space adventure. The trailer also introduced Sigourney Weaver’s character in the Star Wars universe. But if anyone was wondering whether the film had forgotten what made The Mandalorian a fan favorite, the Super Bowl spot will put them at ease.
In the spot, we see Mando and Grogu sitting side-by-side on what looks like a chariot. Mando, who has the reins, then lets go, only for Grogu to grab it using the Force. And then, Grogu’s in charge. Well, looks like the newest member of Clan Mudhorn has taken some bold steps towards becoming a Jedi.
The adorable spot seems to suggest that the film will still focus on the bond between Mando and Grogu, with the voiceover telling us that while they’re on a hard journey, their bond “just gets harder to break.”
The Super Bowl spot doesn’t just show viewers Mando and Grogu, but fans might find the alien creatures drawing the vehicle rather familiar. For those not in the know, the chariot is being drawn by four Tauntauns. Star Wars fans first saw these creatures in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
The creatures’ thick skin and fur help them endure the extreme cold temperatures of the planet Hoth. It’s possible that The Mandalorian and Grogu will be leaning on the road trip genre to build the duo’s bond. And said road trip will be taking a detour through the icy surface of Hoth.
While we all await the return of Star Wars on the big screen, we know that Mando and Grogu have a tough journey ahead, but they seem committed to Grogu’s training in the Force, and to each other as family.
The Mandalorian and Grogu opens in theatres on May 22, 2026.
