The war between the Supes and the Boys has reached its boiling point, and this year it comes to a head for good. Yes after years of anticipation, shocks, and truly unforgettable visuals (for better or for worse), The Boys is set to conclude with its fifth and final season. We don't know how it will go down, what exactly will happen (although if you have read the comics, you probably have a good idea), but we do know that it will be a bloody season. Why wouldn't the series end as it existed? Violent, outrageous, and shocking to the end would be pretty in-line for this show.
The Prime Video series has been a resounding success since it premiered back in 2019, with each season getting bigger and better than the previous. You can bet it will continue that trend as it bows out with its upcoming final season. And with that upon us, here's everything you need to know about when The Boys season 5 comes out, how many episodes the final season will consist of, and when exactly you should expect them.
There will be eight episodes of The Boys season 5 (and a 2-episode premiere)
The Boys season 5 will premiere on Prime Video on Thursday, April 8, in the US at 3:00 a.m. ET, 12:00 a.m. PT, 1:00 a.m. CT, and 2:00 a.m. MT. It will debut with the first two episodes of the season, marking a change from the show's typical three-episode premiere format - a favorite for the Prime Video streaming service. After that, it will revert to a weekly release format, with new episodes coming out each and every Thursday.
There will be a total of eight episodes, just as there have been for all four previous seasons. Prime Video doesn't tend to change up the episode counts per season, so it was unlikely that The Boys would have had an extended run unless it was absolutely necessary. It looks like Eric Kripke and all involved deemed the usual episode count suitable for season 5.

The final season of The Boys is set to be one of the biggest TV events of the year. Vought International's reign of terror with the Supes may well be about to come to an end, but as this show has a reputation for letting the villains win, fans truly won't know how the events will play out until it's on our screens. The good news is that it's almost time for season 5's premiere - and with that will come answers. Given the pacing of this show, we're expecting that those answers will come quickly and suddenly. It's what The Boys does best.
Fans are also expecting some major cameos from characters that starred in spinoff Gen V, with one of those heroes quite possibly being the key to stopping Homelander. If things play out like that, we could well be in for a game-changer.
Heck, whether that happens or not, we know it will be a game-changer nonetheless. Again, it's what this show does best.
