It looks like Captain James T. Kirk won’t be reciting the Green Lantern oath after all.  Via TheWrap, we have confirmation that Chris Pine has closed a deal to join the cast of Wonder Woman as Steve Trevor.  Pine’s contract is said to be a multi-picture commitment which includes sequel options.

Chris Pine was originally rumored to be vying for the role of Steve Trevor until another rumor speculated that he was also in the running to play Hal Jordan / Green Lantern.  Just recently, Tyrese Gibson confirmed that he talked to Warner Bros. about a role in Green Lantern Corps — most likely as John Stewart.

Created by William Moulton Marston and H.G. Peter, the character of Steven “Steve” Rockwell Trevor made his first appearance in All Star Comics #8 (December 1941 / January 1942).  Throughout the years, he’s been the primary love interest of Diana Prince / Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman is set to make her first appearance next year in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.  Her role will be small, but her presence will be undeniable.  The first shots of Wonder Woman in action can be seen in the latest trailer for the film.

Wonder Woman has a release date of June 23, 2017.  It will be produced by Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle of Atlas Entertainment, directed by Patty Jenkins, and written by Jason Fuchs.
