Marvel has been ahead of the game when it comes to trends. Anyone making a comic book movie tries to follow the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s model of a shared universe, as opposed to standalone films. Agents of SHIELD was even a show that helped add context adding storylines that actually ended up connecting with the films. Marvel Studios and Disney Plus made more than a few announcements last year that are going to help the streaming service. On top of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and WandaVision, which are coming this year, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel are also on the horizon. This is more than enough to get fans to invest in the service. As great as those are, the company got an added boost fromThe Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian may not be a comic book show, but it helped in a big way. Disney Plus was going to be battling the big dogs of streaming services. DC Universe had a head start on them, Amazon remains popular, and Netflix is still a go-to streaming service. Mandalorian being successful (beyond just having fifty-year-old Baby Yoda) gave people a reason to have faith in Disney Plus. Because of it, going forward, new fans will have faith in the programing that Disney Plus put out. Not that Disney programming needs more of a reason to be trusted.
