Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Suicide Squad won’t be delayed

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, James Gunn says that there will not be a delayed release for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and The Suicide Squad

For 2020, movies like Black Widow have been forced to move their release dates to later in the year due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

The situation with movies set to release in 2021 is unknown since it is largely unknown how far into filming most films have gotten before social distancing rules went into place.

James Gunn took to Twitter to answer fans’ questions regarding the release of The Suicide Squad, which is set to release on Aug. 6, 2021. According to Gunn, no delay is expected. He tweeted,

In regards to a trailer, Gunn said that any teaser images would be difficult at this time because although editing is running smoothly as he himself is working on it, some of the promotion aspects have been slowed down.

The news is a welcome one for fans hoping to see a teaser The Suicide Squad and see what Gunn has in store as not much about the movie is known at this point. A cast has been revealed, and there will be more practical effects used in the movie as well. However, fans can certainly be happy with the fact that the film itself is still on track to be released on the expected date.

As for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn also assured fans that they are still on schedule for the movie’s release. It may have been pushed back due to Black Widow’s Nov. release, so a 2021 or 2022 release is expected, however Gunn said that plans for the film “are also exactly the same as they were before coronavirus.”

Similar to The Suicide, Squad, there is not much known about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn has said before that the events of Avengers: Endgame will not effect the Guardians in any significant way. The team is also expected to be joined by Thor as well.

While plot details are sparse for The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, fans should be ecstatic that these movies will not be delayed significantly due to the current pandemic.
