Andrew Garfield's time as Spider-Man was initially short-lived. The British actor first wore the iconic red and blue suit in 2012, and just two years later, audiences watched him swing through New York's skyline for what seemed to be the very last time. The wall-crawler's franchise was eventually rebooted with Tom Holland at the lead, and Peter Parker finally got to interact with other heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fortunately, Andrew's superhero story didn't end there.
In an unprecedented moment, all three live-action versions of the web-slinger teamed up during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fans celebrated Andrew's return, and petitions were launched for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to be made. We all wanted to see more of "Peter 3", and fortunately, those dreams partially became a reality when he made a brief cameo in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Fortunately, it appears history will repeat itself yet again in the future.
Andrew Garfield will reportedly appear in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse
According to insider MyTimeToShineHello, Andrew Garfield will appear in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Details about his potential role remain under wraps, with fans speculating that he could voice an animated version of his Spider-Man variant, or possibly even film new live-action scenes for the movie. Of course, there's also the possibility that his cameo comes down to reused material from previous films, much like in Across the Spider-Verse. That being said, his appearance would be a welcome addition either way.

The Spider-Verse films are known for featuring countless iterations of Spider-Man, each with a different style (with the Lego version being a personal fan-favorite). The chase sequence near the end of Across the Spider-Verse took approximately 792 hours to animate, given the huge amount of Spidey variants featured. Assuming that the last entry in the saga aims to be bigger and greater than its predecessors, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume that some of the live-action versions of the friendly neighborhood hero could show up to save the day.
Andrew Garfield recently confirmed that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 "is not happening". With that in mind, Marvel could look to keep his story going elsewhere. While the actor unequivocally denied his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, he offered a more open-ended response when asked if he could suit up as Spidey in Secret Wars. Coupled with the report that he will be back in multiple projects, it's easy to see that Beyond the Spider-Verse would be the other ideal place for a heroic appearance.
Marvel's multiversal storylines on the big screen are coming to an end. Kevin Feige confirmed that there's a reset for the MCU after the release of Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, which will ensure there will only be a single timeline moving forward. Coincidentally, the Spider-Verse trilogy will come to an end in 2027 as well (even if a Spider-Punk spin-off is in the works). That means we're very unlikely to see either Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man after that year, so studios will jump at the chance to feature them in a project while they still can.
Not much is known about Miles Morales' upcoming adventure. A sneak peek was showcased for those who attended CinemaCon 2025, but it didn't give too much away. However, given that the Spot is more powerful than ever and that he can instantly travel between dimensions, he's just a jump away from traversing into the MCU or the world showcased in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Fortunately, Sony doesn't need to do a lot of heavy lifting to explain why Andrew could make a cameo in its upcoming movie, and we can't wait to see how it all pans out.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released on June 18, 2027.
