There’s no doubt that people will look back at season 3 of Invincible with nothing but admiration. The beginning of the dark times of Mark Grayson was told in a way that stayed true to the source material while also making sure the story worked for TV. It’s all you could want from a comic book adaptation. However, none of the show's greatness could have happened without the heroes and villains involved.

All of the characters were incredible from start to finish and this article will rank the top ten. It was difficult dropping it down to just ten, but hopefully, the justification will make sense. Let's start with an honorable mention.

Honorable mention: Mohawk Mark

Voiced by: Steven Yeun

Mohawk Mark Grayson was the best of the Invincible variants. He was witty, strong, and completely unhinged. He wasn’t the strongest of the group, but, somehow, he seemed to do the most damage. He also may be the closest to Mark Prime in terms of power and skill. When you learn about his backstory, you'll see that the similarities don't stop there.

10. Magmaniac and Tether Tyrant

Zangief said it best when he explained the difference between a bad guy and a bad…guy. In episode 3, we that with Magmaniac and Tether Tyrant. Watching them do their best to be good only to be dragged back into crime was heartbreaking. There’s no way a list like this could be made without mentioning their moment. It wasn't in the comics, but it was an improvement to the story.

9. Omni-Man/Allen the Alien/Battle Beast

  • Voiced by:
  • Omni-Man: J.K. Simmons
  • Allen the Alien: Seth Rogen
  • Battle Beast: Michael Dorn

There wasn’t enough of these three characters to give them their own spot. Nevertheless, their moment can’t be denied. Their escape from the Viltrumite prison was full of blood, quips, and insanity. After everything is over, Allen and Omni-Man share a moment and officially become friends while Battle Beast gets the fight he wants. A great way to further the story while getting a a good amount of action.

8. Conquest

Voiced by: Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Admittedly, Conquest didn’t have an extended amount of time this season, but what we got was enough. He is a beast of a person with zero morals and the epitome of what it means to be a Viltrumite. Watching him unleashed on the world was only a sample size of what the Viltrume Empire is capable of and Prime Video did a good job and showing that.

7. Oliver Grayson

Voiced by: Christian Convery

Oliver was obnoxious in the comics and it looks like the creative team on the show knew that. Yes, he had his moments this season, but you understand him because he was seen doing more than just training with his brother. It’s why when he killed the Mauler Twins and told Mark to murder Angstrom Levy hit harder. You saw him as a kid and not just an annoying character.

6. Cecil Stedman

Voiced by: Walton Goggins

Cecil isn't nearly as bad as Nick Fury or Amanda Waller, but he’s not a good person. As his mentor taught him, “You can be the good guy. Or the guy who saves the world.” Even though he’s done some deplorable things, he wasn’t wrong about D.A. Sinclair and Darkwing II. Some people deserve a second chance and prison would’ve made them worse. But, we will never forget the lengths he went to hurt Mark.

5. Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve

Voiced by: Gillian Jacobs

Eve would have been lower on the list if it wasn’t for her moment against Conquest. She had to know there was nothing she could do against him, but she fought anyway. Then we saw her power level elevated to where not even death has a hold over her. If that’s not top-five stuff, what is?

4. Angstrom Levy

Voiced by: Sterling K. Brown

If you think Kendrick Lamar is the biggest hater, you’re wrong. Angstrom Levy visited multiple realities to recruit various versions of someone he hates to take down the person he despises the most. Imagine seeing the face of something that brings you nothing but furious thoughts over and over again just to have someone killed. Let's not forget the pain he’s had to endure to get his enhancements. That is hate.

To top it all off, Sterling K. Brown made Angstrom Levy sound devious and smooth while he watched the world be destroyed. But what else would we expect from the smoothest man on the planet?

3. Rex Splode

Voiced by: Jason Mantzoukas

Here’s another example of the Prime Video creative team making a character better than the original. In the comics, Rex didn’t mature until he almost died. During this show, it was a slow progression and he had help from Shrinking Rae. She showed him that there was more to the world even if he didn’t see it. And the way he went out in the end was tragic. Who would have thought that Jason Mantzoukas had that kind of range in him?

2. Scott Duvall/Powerplex

Voiced by: Aaron Paul

You can't help but feel bad for Scott Duvall. He had to watch while the person who murdered his sister and niece flew around as a hero without repercussions. Sure, he's the reason his wife and baby son were killed, but that’s what rage does. It blinds you. At no point was he thinking logically. He felt like the system failed him so his tunnel vision took over.

It must be said that Aaron Paul was the perfect choice for Scott Duvall/Powerplex. He added a lot of emotion to a character that needed it. Here’s hoping he gets more voice-acting work. This and Bojack Horseman are examples of how good he is.

1. Mark Grayson/Invincible (Prime)

Voiced by: Steven Yeun

As much as everyone has gone through this season, Mark has it too, and then some. All of the mistakes he’s made are weighing him down, but he keeps having to fly to save the day because no one else can.

Cecil betrayed him, Powerplex reminded him of the awful things that he’s caused, he had to kill someone he admired, and Angstrom Levy’s hatred for him led to the world being ruthlessly attacked. Those are just the emotional parts. He’s been punched, bludgeoned, and, stabbed more times than ever. And after all of that, he had to fight Conquest.

All of that said, things aren’t going to get easier for Mark in season 4. Just know that Bam Smack Pow will be here to report the next bunch of awful things that happened in Invincible.
