Marvel is reportedly working on the series we've been hoping for

Don't you hate how the big MCU crossovers are only for the big screen and not television? Well, that's about to change.

There's been a lot of discourse regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe series. While there have been some fantastic hits, such as Loki and Daredevil: Born Again, it's also widely believed that many of these projects feel like over-extended movies scattered across six (and almost always only six) episodes of television. To make matters worse, the Disney Plus shows have mostly remained disconnected from the rest of the stories happening on the big screen.

Heroes such as Moon Knight, Werewolf, White Vision, and She-Hulk have all made their debut on these types of projects, only to never be seen again. But if that wasn't enough, Marvel's new approach to the small screen also raised some eyebrows. Marvel's Head of Television, Streaming and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, recently confirmed that big and renowned MCU heroes won't be the stars of Disney Plus series moving forward (though they can still make cameo appearances).

But amongst all the controversial decisions and a few forgettable projects, there's one silver lining: It appears big crossovers will finally have a place on TV. Daredevil: Born Again will be the first step in this plan, as the Devil of Hell's Kitchen is bound to join forces with Jessica Jones (and perhaps the rest of the Defenders) to defeat the Kingpin of crime and his new regime. But if that wasn't enough, it looks Marvel will finally make the crossover we've all been waiting for, and it will be in a Diney Plus series.

Marvel reportedly working on a Champions show

The young heroes are about to take over the small screen. According to industry insider Alex Perez, Marvel is working on a Champions crossover set to be released on Disney Plus. Unfortunately, the project is "still in the early stages", but it might be announced "either this year or the next one".

The post-credits scene of The Marvels directly hinted towards a Young Avengers / Champions crossover, as Kamala Khan recruited Kate Bishop to be a part of a new team. This would be the perfect opportunity for heroes with few MCU appearances to finally join forces and have a clear path moving forward. Wiccan, America Chavez, Speed, Iron Heart, and Cassie Lang could all be there. It's a long shot, but if Miles Morales is introduced during the events of Avengers: Secret Wars, then he'd be a perfect member of the team as well.

Interestingly enough, leaked Marvel concept art presumed to be for Avengers: Doomsday portrays the Young Avengers fully assembled. With that in mind, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to assume some of them will come together for the first time at some point during Marvel's next big-screen crossover, and their storyline will be followed on the small screen. The only question remaining is: What would the series be about?

Back in May, it was reported that Agatha and Wiccan's quest for finding the latter's brother, Tommy, would be used in a Champion's storyline. While it's an exciting prospect in itself, we also need to remember that the end goal is for the entire WandaVision family to reunite once again. The only problem? No one truly knows where the Scarlet Witch is (or what her true fate was). So it would be a perfect opportunity for Marvel to make an Avengers: The Children's Crusade adaptation on the small screen, where Wiccan and Speed searched for their mother, only to find she was hiding in Latveria and about to marry Doctor Doom.

Such an event could take place between Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. That way, everybody's favorite witch would be back in the MCU just for the biggest and most ambitious superhero project to date.

Granted, it might seem like The Children's Crusade is a big storyline to tackle on television. However, it would also be a perfect incentive for viewers to tune in to these shows, given that the "big" and "iconic" heroes we see in the movie theater won't be their main characters moving forward. Besides, it would finally connect the big and small screens in a much more compelling way because, at the moment, they mostly remain separated. Come on, Marvel, you know it's the right thing to do.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026.
