The story of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 came to an end just a little after the game's release. While superhero fans worldwide hoped for DLC featuring Carnage as the main antagonist, that day never came. Instead, the title received a few quality-of-life updates, while new suits were also added post-launch. Beyond that, developer Insomniac Games moved on to work on its next ambitious project: Marvel's Wolverine. Players are now eager to slash their way through hordes of enemies as Logan, but while we wait for the release date, we have a good reason to return to Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for one last swing.

Over a year after its latest update, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is getting new content, and there's a good reason for it. The wall-crawler is about to take over the screen courtesy of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, one of the most ambitious Marvel Cinematic Universe projects ever made. So, to commemorate the occasion, the team at Insomniac Games added a brand new Spidey suit to the game that fans will recognize in a heartbeat.

A Spider-Man: Brand New Day suit will be added to Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Mark your calendars, true believers. On July 28, 2026, the "Fresh Start" suit will be added to Marvel's Spider-Man 2. This new look is inspired by Tom Holland's new costume in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. At long last, you'll be able to swing across New York's skyline pretending that the whole world just magically forgot your identity... and that Aunt May bit the dust (an event that, interestingly enough, also happened to Peter in the video game world).

The Fresh Start suit will come to PlayStation 5 consoles and PC at no additional cost. So, in case you were thinking about replaying Marvel's Spider-Man 2 or diving in once more to use photo mode, this new cosmetic will be perfect for the occasion.

Unfortunately, there's a very high chance that this is the last update Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will receive. After all, a Spider-Noir tie-in suit wasn't added to the game, so it's unlikely that we'll see a new costume to celebrate the launch of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2. Besides, Insomniac is already hard at work on a new entry in the franchise.

Peter Parker and Miles Morales' voice actors, Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter, have openly talked about what to expect from Marvel's Spider-Man 3. Furthermore, the face model behind Peter Parker, Ben Jordan, uploaded a picture of himself performing motion-capture work before swiftly erasing the image. There's no denying it: the wall-crawlers will be back in action, and it's only a matter of figuring out when that will happen.

It has been reported that a Marvel's Venom video game, developed by Insomniac, will come our way in 2027. With that in mind, the earliest we'd see Marvel's Spider-Man 3 would be in 2028, but 2029 seems all the more likely. That would also mean that the wall-crawler's upcoming adventure could be tailored specifically for the PlayStation 6.

Unfortunately, Peter Parker won't make a surprise appearance in Marvel's Wolverine, despite both titles taking place in the same universe. Insomniac has revealed that they want to craft the ultimate Logan experience, which means focusing all the attention on the iconic antihero.

Little is officially known about Insomniac's plans beyond Marvel's Wolverine. Rumor has it that the acclaimed developer is also working on yet another Marvel franchise that has nothing to do with Spider-Man or James Howlett (with Daredevil being the most popular guess). Perhaps a crossover between all these different characters will eventually come our way, capturing a bit of the MCU magic on home consoles. For the time being, it's good to know even more Spider-Man content will come our way soon.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is out now on PlayStation 5 consoles and PC.
