The Marvel Cinematic Universe tried a lot of different things throughout the Multiverse Saga and while most of them hit, not all of them were successful. That's life in general, but it did provide Marvel Studios with a lot more ups and downs than it's used to, for the MCU franchise was renowned for success stories all throughout the Infinity Saga.
The expansion resulted in some more loose-hanging plot threads than usual when it came to the story, and that has left audiences feeling a little more unsatisfied about the whole thing. While Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will bring the events of the films and Disney Plus shows that furthered the central story together, there are some titles that aren't likely to have sequels or second seasons in the near-future.
On that note, it sounds like one particular Multiverse Saga addition won't be in a rush back to the franchise anytime soon.
Oscar Isaac casts doubt on Moon Knight future in new interview
Oscar Isaac may not have any immediate plans to return to the MCU, it seems. In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, the actor was asked about whether he would be open to returning as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars franchise and he delivered quite the passionate response.
"I'd be open to it, although right now I'm not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great."
It's important to point out that this interview took place around the time that ABC controversially took Jimmy Kimmel Live! off the air. That network is owned by Disney and so is Marvel Studios. So, while Isaac's comments were specifically in response to a question about Star Wars, they are relevant to Marvel as well, and they might also cast doubt on Isaac's return as Moon Knight.
The good news is that Disney promptly reversed course and brought Jimmy Kimmel's show back after being widely condemned by the public, with a multitude of stars (including multiple Marvel stars) actually calling for people to unsubscribe from Disney Plus. Kimmel was reinstated within a week. While a lot of people still haven't forgiven them yet (or reactivated their Disney Plus subscriptions), the host's quick return spoke volumes. Therefore, Isaac may well be open to working with them again in the future - on either Star Wars or Marvel projects.
If he does return in the future, it won't be for Moon Knight season 2
Isaac starred in Disney Plus series Moon Knight back in 2022 but he has yet to return to the MCU. This is particularly surprising to fans because the show was extremely well-received by both critics and audiences, and the post-credits scene clearly sets up another installment. So why hasn't it happened yet? The answer is complicated.

Moon Knight existed as part of Marvel's old approach to TV shows in that it was produced as a miniseries to set the stage for a larger title (much like how WandaVision paved the way for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier teed up Captain America: Brave New World). However, the studio has reshaped that approach, relaunching a separate television arm to produce Disney Plus offerings as ongoing, regular, multi-season TV shows (see: Daredevil: Born Again). Although some of the original ilk of shows are capable of returning in this new format (the studio is attempting to make Hawkeye season 2), Marvel has bigger plans for Moon Knight, it seems.
There have been long-standing rumors that the studio is setting the stage for a Midnight Sons movie. Brad Winderbaum's comments earlier this year about Marvel's plans for the Moon Knight character might back that up. While that does unfortunately rule out Moon Knight season 2 from happening for now, it might not be a lost cause altogether. That is only if the Midnight Sons project - or whatever the character's return would be involved in - happens.
Given that Disney did reverse course on the Kimmel situation, Isaac may well be open to working with them again in the future. Here's hoping that we all get to see Moon Knight back in action at some point in the future.
