There was a time when it seemed Disney would never renew any of its Marvel Cinematic Universe series for a second season, as multiple fan-favorites such as WandaVision and Moon Knight never made a comeback. Fortunately, that has slowly started to change in recent years.
Animated projects such as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and X-Men '97 are officially coming back with new episodes next year, while What If...? ended its run with three seasons. Furthermore, fans have watched the God of Mischief himself go through plenty of adventures throughout two seasons of his own show, and Daredevil: Born Again is shaping up to have indefinite annual releases.
Given all the recent renewals, fans wondered whether one of the original Marvel shows could have a chance at a second life. Fortunately, its star is eager to suit up again and take us yet again on another unforgettable adventure.
Jeremy Renner says he would come back for a second season of Hawkeye
A second season of Hawkeye has been in Marvel's cards for quite some time now, even if it hasn't come to fruition yet. Unfortunately, Jeremy Renner was in a near-fatal snowplow accident where he broke 38 bones and suffered from a collapsed lung. Naturally, the man in charge of bringing Clint Barton to life took a break from acting to prioritize his health and steady recovery.

After the beloved actor was back on his feet, Marvel started to have conversations with him about a second season of Hawkeye, but it all fell through as he was offered only half the pay of season 1. But after a long and tumultuous road, it seems the stars are finally starting to align for everybody's favorite archer. During an interview with Popverse, Jeremy Renner revealed that he'd be happy to return to the MCU once again:
"I’ll always dance with Marvel. I’ll always dance with them for sure when appropriate, when it’s rocking. I’m happy to do season two of Hawkeye. I love that character. I think there’s so much for us to do. We waded through many discussions about the shape of that season. It’s getting my body right and getting everything right for that. The timing of that will come, and if there’s still a need, want, and desire for it, then yeah."
The statement comes after Jeremy went on record to say that he's "sure we’ll end up doing season two". At long last, new episodes of Hawkeye are looking more likely than ever before, and this can only mean good news for MCU fans. Clint Barton is one of the few remaining OG Avengers, and we know that his story is far from over. Unfortunately, he wasn't a part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal. So, unless Marvel has a big surprise in store, Hawkeye season 2 is the more likely place where we could see him next.
Kate Bishop quickly became a fan-favorite after her debut on the small screen. So, if a new season of Hawkeye comes our way, she's sure to steal the spotlight yet again. It's worth keeping in mind that Marvel is slowly but steadily expanding its corner of street-level stories and heroes. Characters like Kingpin and Echo—who appeared in the first season of Hawkeye—went on to star in other projects afterward. Furthermore, Jessica Jones is set to make an explosive comeback, and now we're on the verge of witnessing a third season of Daredevil: Born Again, too.
Rumor has it that there will be a big team-up between characters like Spider-Man, Daredevil, Punisher, and "more". Both Clint and Kate would be perfect for such a crossover, but before that happens, we need to learn more about their story and where they have been after putting a stop to Kingpin's plans. With a bit of luck, not only is a second season of Hawkeye really coming our way, but it isn't far away either.
