To say Deadpool and Wolverine is going to be the biggest movie of the year would be a major understatement. First of all, it's a Deadpool sequel, meaning that fans who have been longing for another adventure since 2018's Deadpool 2 arrived in theaters are finally going to get what they've been waiting for. There's also Marvel Studios' involvement, which means that Ryan Reynolds' Merc With A Mouth will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, providing the Multiverse Saga with arguably its most pivotal installment.

The most exciting aspect, however, might just be the fact that Hugh Jackman is reprising his role as Wolverine from Fox's X-Men movie series, bringing Logan back in an adventure that will finally see him don the comic-accurate yellow-and-blue suit. He looks incredible in it, and even though we're waiting for some official footage of him wearing the cowl, we know that he will also be sporting it at some point in the movie.

Yes, there are a lot of reasons to be excited for Deadpool and Wolverine and that hasn't even come close to explaining all of them, and that right there is one of the most exciting things of all. There are multiple major characters from both the MCU and non-MCU Marvel movies expected to appear. We can't possibly know all of the surprises that Marvel has in store, but we can point out the characters that we know will appear - as well as those who are rumored.

Every character confirmed to appear in Deadpool 3

The cast for Deadpool and Wolverine is extensive; so extensive, in fact, that there are so many rumored cameos and returns expected that we can't list as part of the main cast because we just don't know if they will end up being a part of the movie or not. What we do know is that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be headlining the movie, bringing both Wade Wilson and Logan to the MCU for the first time ever.

Much of the cast from the previous two Deadpool movies will be returning too, particularly Morena Baccarin, who will reprise her role as Vanessa. The trailers for the movie have also confirmed that a number of X-Men villains will appear in the movie in The Void, while the most recent also confirmed the rumor that Loki star Wunmi Mosaku would reprise her role as Hunter B-15 from the Disney Plus series.

With that in mind, here is the official cast list with all the characters confirmed to appear:

  • Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson / Deadpool
  • Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine
  • Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova
  • Morena Baccarin as Vanessa
  • Rob Delaney as Peter

As Deadpool and Wolverine is a huge chapter in the MCU's Multiverse Saga, there are a multitude of characters that are rumored to appear. Many of those stem from the 20th Century Fox Marvel movies, as that is the franchise that Wade Wilson and Logan were born out of. With that in mind, there have been countless rumors suggesting that other characters from the X-Men franchise, along with some from Daredevil, the Fantastic Four movies, and even the X-Men spin-off that never was, could make their presences felt throughout the film.

On that note, here are some of the rumored cameos in the the upcoming film.

Chris Evans as Johnny Storm / Human Torch: Chris Evans is best known for playing Captain America in the MCU franchise, but there have been a lot of rumors that he will be making a cameo appearance in Deadpool and Wolverine in a different superhero role, playing Johnny Storm - a role that he played in 2005's Fantastic Four and its 2007 sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Henry Cavill as Wolverine Variant: Henry Cavill has long been a fan-favorite choice to play Wolverine and he has also been long-rumored to be joining the MCU. According to multiple rumors, it sounds like both of those Marvel rumors could come together as Cavill is now expected to play a variant of Wolverine in Deadpool 3 in a cameo appearance. Those reports claim that he is playing an Old Man Logan variant and that he might even go up against a variant of the Hulk.

X-Men movie cast: With Hugh Jackman's return, there have been hopes that we could see him reunite with the cast of the classic X-Men movies. And since he is donning the comic-accurate yellow and blue suit for the first time, there are also hopes that the rest of the live-action X-Men could don their comic-accurate suits too. While these rumors have not yet been confirmed, James Marsden (Cyclops) and Famke Janssen (Jean Grey) have made comments that suggest they might appear in the movie. And as a number of X-Men villains were already revealed in the trailers for the movie, the big surprises will likely be some returning heroes.

Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier: Patrick Stewart made his debut in the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when he appeared as an alternate version of Professor X. He has been rumored to appear as another variant in Deadpool and Wolverine, with some major outlets even reporting that he could appear at one point. The rumor has since been quashed by a number of insiders, but as Patrick Stewart said there were once discussions about a cameo in the film, it could still happen.

Channing Tatum as Gambit: Channing Tatum was attached to a Gambit movie at Fox for quite some time before Disney acquired it. When the merger took place, however, the X-Men spinoff movie was cancelled in the process as the X-Men franchise would be rebooted at Marvel Studios. Now, rumor has it that Tatum will finally get the chance to play everyone's favorite card expert in a relatively prominent supporting role.

Wesley Snipes as Blade: Blade is one of the earliest Marvel movie stars as Wesley Snipes brought the character to life in the 1998 movie and its two sequels. Now, in one of the most exciting and unexpected rumors to come from the upcoming MCU movie, he might be making a return to the role in a cameo appearance in Deadpool and Wolverine.

Ben Affleck as Daredevil: With Jennifer Garner seemingly confirmed to return as Elektra from Daredevil, there are rumors that The Man Without Fear himself could be back for a small appearance too. Now, this is one of the more vague and unlikely rumors as there haven't been any updates on it since it first surfaced, with most fans now believing that Ben Affleck will no longer appear. But if he does make a surprise cameo, you can't say you weren't warned!

Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan (or maybe Foggy Nelson): Another established Marvel scooper (CanWeGetSomeToast) revealed that Jon Favreau could make his long-awaited return to the MCU as Happy Hogan. Now, fans were wondering if Favreau could actually play Foggy Nelson (the role he played in 2003's Daredevil), potentially reuniting him with Garner (and maybe even Affleck), but it does seem that his MCU character is the more likely option here.

Matthew McConaughey as Cowboy Deadpool: Perhaps the most unlikely rumor of all, Matthew McConaughey recently had his name attached to Deadpool and Wolverine when insider Alex Perez claimed that the iconic movie star would be playing the cowboy variant of Deadpool. It's picked up a lot of stream in a very short amount of time, so don't be too surprised he has us all saying "Alright, Alright Alright!".

? as Hulk Variant: Perez also suggests that we could see a version of Wolverine battling the Hulk, bringing one of the long-awaited Marvel Comics moments to the screen for the first time. However, it's unclear at this time who would be playing the Hulk. Perhaps it's the MCU's own Mark Ruffalo, or his predecessor Edward Norton. Some rumors have even suggested that Eric Bana from 2003's Hulk could cameo. Then again, it might just be a CGI render that looks like none of those versions. We'll have to wait and see.

Blake Lively as Lady Deadpool: We know for a fact that Lady Deadpool will be making her live-action debut in the MCU movie, and it sounds like Blake Lively could be bringing her to life. Some rumors have suggested that Taylor Swift could play the role, while more recent ones have put forward Gigi Hadid as the likely candidate, but the most reliable sources have claimed that Lively will voice the character (who will be physically portrayed by a stunt double).

Taylor Swift as Dazzler (UNLIKELY): The biggest rumor of all when it came to potential Deadpool and Wolverine cameos was that global superstar Taylor Swift could actually appear in the movie as Marvel Comics' Dazzler - a singer with a beautiful voice that can put anyone under her spell. Swift is extremely close to Lively and Reynolds, and she recently attended an NFL game with those two and Hugh Jackman. However, Entertainment Weekly have since confirmed that Swift won't be appearing in the movie. That doesn't, however, mean that there won't be a reference of some kind to the superstar.

It's a who's who of potential performers and returnees that could appear in Deadpool and Wolverine but that likely isn't even scratching the surface of what it has in store for us.

Remember, this is Deadpool, this is Marvel Studios, and this is the Multiverse Saga; with those three things, anything can happen.

Deadpool and Wolverine arrives in movie theaters on July 26, 2024.
