It was an unexpectedly good day to be a Spider-Man fan. But for Sony - the studio behind Spidey's movie adventures - it was a very, very bad day. See, the brand new trailer for the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day has leaked online a full week ahead of the official launch of the film's marketing campaign. And to say that it has sent the internet into meltdown would be an understatement.
Webheads all over the world were losing their minds at the new footage from the Marvel Cinematic Universe while also remaining cautious about whether the relatively-low resolution clips they were watching were real and not AI. And then two things happened: A 4K (albeit obscured) version of the trailer surfaced and Sony made its presence felt.
Sony has the leaked Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer taken down
Sony has officially responded to the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer leaks with effective action. The studio has issued DMCA notices across social media and video platforms like YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook to have the trailer taken down - and, in many cases, the accounts associated with them too. It wasn't as prompt as many fans were hoping for, but it was effective nonetheless.
Unfortunately for the studio, it also began teasing the official launch of the movie's marketing campaign next week - which would have kicked off with the second trailer. That's still very much the plan right now, but the question remains as to whether it will have to put together a brand new trailer for the release or if they will simply unveil the official, unonstructed variation of the leaked one.
Based on footage descriptions that have surfaced online, the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer builds upon the very first one, focusing on Tom Holland's webslinger as he attempts to get used to his no-longer-new normal of being alone in New York City (while also being one of the most famous people on the planet). Hey, the life of a superhero is a lonely one.

The new footage, however, highlights the kind of impact that Sadie Sink's mysterious mutant-like character (who many believe is actually X-Men character Jean Grey). It appears that she can jump into any other person's body except that of Spider-Man's. And as Spidey is in the midst of mutating himself, it will raise questions about the strengths and limitations of his powers.
One person who is also set to show us the strengths of his powers is Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, who takes center stage in the new trailer. It appears that Sink's character takes over Bruce Banner, forcing him to become the Incredible Hulk once again, and this time he really is the Savage Hulk. That's a moment that will no doubt have Marvel fans losing their minds when the movie arrives in theaters.
The new clip also places more focus on Peter Parker's longing for a reunion with MJ (Zendaya), which this new villain is seemingly aware of. This seemingly results in the webslinger taking her to The Punisher's hideout for safety, as he and Frank Castle look to team up against the new danger.

It's certainly unfortunate that the trailer has leaked online early when it would no doubt have created an even bigger fuss next week based on the footage descriptions, but Spider-Man: Brand New Day has unfortunately been hampered with leaks. A first trailer leaked out around Christmastime - months before the first official look at the movie was released. Sony had that one taken down too, once again highlighting how the studio is well aware of the unexpected leaks that the film has encountered over the past few months.
Nevertheless, this will likely only increase the hype for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is expected to be one of the biggest movies of the year. In fact, only Marvel Studios' own Avengers: Doomsday may be bigger. This really is a big year for the MCU!
Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in movie theaters on July 31, 2026.
