Spider-Man: Brand New Day post-credits scene to make Marvel history

We are just days away from the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Marvel fans all around the world are ready for what's coming. The fourth installment in Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man saga, the film will take Peter Parker on a more mature adventure as he navigates life as a superhero without actually having a life of his own. That will obviously present unique challenges in its own right - and that's not even including the new villains he will be facing.

This is also a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, so you can rest assured that there will be questions regarding how the film fits into the franchise's Multiverse Saga, and whether or not the post-credits scenes will have an impact on the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Interestingly enough, it sounds like we're in for a pretty history-making movie in the after credits scene department.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature only one post-credits scene

According to established industry insider Cryptic4KQual, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature one post-credits scene that will directly set up Avengers: Doomsday (which arrives in movie theaters on December 18). This particular insider is known to have a high-reliability rate, accurately predicting episode runtimes and film lengths in the past, so there is little reason to think that this might be wrong (although all rumors and reports should always be taken with a grain of salt until officially confirmed).

The setting up Avengers: Doomsday aspect of that report likely won't be shocking to you; Marvel movies are known to use post-credits scenes to set up the next installment and it would be wise to use a highly-likely billion-dollar film like Spider-Man: Brand New Day promote the big one that the Multiverse Saga has been building towards. However, it is surprising to hear that there might only be one post-credits scene, as that breaks a major Marvel tradition for these Spider-Man movies.

To put that in perspective, here is the list of Marvel Studios / Sony Spider-Man movies and how many post-credits scenes each of them have:

  • Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) - 2 post-credits scenes
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) - 2 post-credits scenes
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) - 2 post-credits scenes
  • Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) - 1 post credits scene (reportedly)

As you can see above, the three previous Spider-Man movies to take place in the MCU all featured two two post-credits scenes. Spider-Man: Homecoming featured a mid-credits teaser in which Michael Keaton's Adrian Toomes ran into the Scorpion in prison (and protected Spidey's secret identity) before then featuring a humorous tag of Captain America's recorded PSAs. Spider-Man: Far From Home saw a mid-credits scene that shocked the world as Spidey's true identity was revealed by J. Jonah Jameson and a post-credits scene in which it was revealed that the Nick Fury and Maria Hill in this film were actually Skrulls, Talos and Soren.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: No Way Home's mid-credits scene saw Tom Hardy's Venom momentarily appear in the world of the MCU before being sent back to where he came from. The post-credits scene was actually a teaser trailer for Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness.

Needless to say, if Spider-Man: Brand New Day genuinely does only feature one post-credits scene, it will break that tradition and perhaps set a precedent for Sony's next Spider-Man trilogy (of which this movie is the first installment in). It's also probably intentionally designed this way so that the focus will remain solely on Avengers: Doomsday once the credits begin rolling on Spidey's next adventure.

As for what that scene could entail, the likely theory is that it will feature Yelena Belova from the New Avengers as she perhaps looks to recruit Spider-Man to help in the Avengers' battle against Doctor Doom. Marvel Studios' own president Kevin Feige seemingly confirmed that Florence Pugh will be reprising her role in the upcoming film ahead of Avengers: Doomsday, so the long-running fan theory has gathered significantly more weight.

As things currently stand, Tom Holland is not expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday as the events of that film will reportedly take place at the same time as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, so the post-credits scene could very well involve a major Avengers figure reaching out to Spidey for help. The question is whether it will be an offer to rejoin the Avengers or a desperate pleas for help. We'll have to wait and see.

Regardless, if Spider-Man: Brand New Day does feature only one scene after the credits, it will certainly be a first for a Marvel Studios / Sony Pictures Spider-Man movie. However given the circumstances, it's entirely understandable that Marvel would want to place the spotlight on Avengers: Doomsday in the aftermath of Spidey's next adventure.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on Jul. 31, 2026.
