Marvel fans all across the world are asking one question: Where is the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day? The upcoming MCU movie is set to release in theaters this July and there has been virtually no promotion from Sony or Marvel Studios since production started in Glasgow in summer 2025 (and then, naturally, concluded months later).

The ambitious early marketing campaign for Avengers: Doomsday has taken up much of Marvel's time while Sony hasn't really addressed Spidey's next installment in months (although the latter studio did promptly pull a leaked Brand New Day trailer from the internet around Christmastime). The good news is that the trailer is on its way. However, a more recent update suggests that it might not come how fans are hoping.

Sony reportedly has two plans for Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer (and neither are ideal)

After dominating the headlines for the past few weeks, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer is expected to be released in the not-too-distant future. A number of reports have backed this up, with some insiders even saying the we'll see it within the next week or two. However, a new report suggests that, while this could be the case, it could also be another month if Sony goes with its other plan for the preview.

According to insider account TrailerTrack, Sony is currently considering two options for the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer. The first would be to release it exclusively in theaters, attaching it to the upcoming release of Project Hail Mary on the March 20 weekend. Like we saw with Marvel Studios' approach for Avengers: Doomsday, it would be released to wider audiences online a week after that.

The second suggests a much longer delay. Sony is reportedly weighing up the possibility of debuting the trailer at CinemaCon on April 13. The studio is the first one up and, by releasing the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer, they could effectively steal the show from everyone else. It would also allow them to unveil other tidbits and sneak peeks, starting the smaller three-month marketing window in a big way. And as this worked like a dream for the previous installment (2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home), it's possible that they will attempt to recreate that success here. Since CinemaCon is also where they first released the official title for Brand New Day last April, this is looking like the more likely option.

Needless to say, fans wouldn't consider either of these options ideal right now. It's been a long wait for the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer and the fact that both of these possibilities seem feasible has just created more confusion. A previous report also singled out the Project Hail Mary theatrical release as a likely candidate, which also reiterated another rumor that the trailer would arrive in the back half of March, but neither one of those claimed that it would be theater-exclusive for a whole week, and that's just a bad idea.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day shouldn't copy Avengers: Doomsday's trailer release strategy

While attaching the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer to the theatrical release of Project Hail Mary might indeed increase the box office performance of the latter film, it's also a bad idea for the former. While Spider-Man is strong enough to take the battle on, the webslinger shouldn't have to - because we've been here before with a Marvel movie just recently. In fact, you might even say we've been here with two.

If the trailer is indeed attached to Project Hail Mary and it is only exclusively available to moviegoers, then it will almost certainly leak online. This happened with all four Avengers: Doomsday trailers - which debuted exclusively before Avatar: Fire and Ash - and despite Marvel aggressively, quickly pulling the leaks, audiences knew what all four of them were before they were each released online across the next month.

Moreover, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a movie that has already been dealing with its own leaks. Even though there has been no trailer for the movie officially released in any capacity, a version leaked online at the end of 2025 (ironically during the same week that the first Avengers: Doomsday trailer leaked out). Sony was quick to pull it but, by that point, fans knew extensive details about the overall plot of the movie - including some of Peter Parker's thoughts and feelings about where he was in life (alongside some potential teases for Sadie Sink's mystery character).

The movie has been through enough as it is and we haven't even had one official trailer release. Unveiling any new clip in theaters will just lead to more leaks, making the eventual trailer itself have less buzz when Sony does opt to release it online. And, considering that fans have already felt that Brand New Day has been constantly overlooked in favor of Avengers: Doomsday, it shouldn't have to contend with that.

Taking all of that into account, the most ideal option would be for Sony to do a dual theatrical/online release, attaching it to Project Hail Mary and releasing it online for audiences who won't be going to the theaters in the next few weeks. It would boost Ryan Gosling-led film and give the Spidey fans what they want. But, all in all, it's beginning to look like CinemaCon is the most likely option of all simply because of Sony and Spider-Man's previous success with that event.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in movie theaters on July 31, 2026.
