Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already shaping up to be unlike any movie the wall-crawler has ever starred in. Iconic villains like Scorpion and Tombstone will finally make their live-action debut, while fan-favorite anti-heroes from every corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will make an appearance. For the first time ever, Aunt May won't be there to support Peter when he needs it the most, and the friendly neighborhood hero will have to deal with the ramifications of his whole identity being erased. But in the midst of what's shaping up to be a very personal and grounded storyline, audiences are still likely to see references to other Marvel characters.
As if it wasn't enough for Hulk and Punisher to show up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day to save the day (or cause perhaps even cause more problems), rumor has it that Yelena Belova will also make a surprise appearance. Furthermore, a hidden Easter Egg in a different Marvel project heavily indicated that a fan-favorite street-level hero would join the wall-crawler in his upcoming adventure, too, finally giving us the crossover we've all been wanting to see for years. Unfortunately, it was all a little too good to be true.
Charlie Cox officially denies his involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Criminals of New York City consider Spider-Man and Daredevil to be a match made in hell. The two heroes have stopped no shortage of threats in comic book pages, which is why fans have been asking to see them cross paths on the big screen, too. That wish finally seemed to become true when it was announced that Jon Bernthal's Punisher joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. After all, it would be very easy for him to be the bridge between Peter and Matt's worlds. Besides, Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox was filming a secret project near the set of Brand New Day, which was seen as a hint that he would join the wall-crawler. However, that ultimately won't be the case (or, at least, not yet).

During an interview with Phase Hero's Brandon Davis, Charlie Cox denied his involvement in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and also confirmed that he won't appear in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. When the Man Without Fear made his MCU debut during the events of Daredevil: Born Again, fans hoped that he would finally cross paths with heroes he hadn't had a chance of meeting before. Granted, that wish partially came true when Matt Murdock briefly showed up in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Unfortunately, he and Peter barely had any interactions, let alone a proper team-up. So, for the time being, we'll have to keep waiting to see the Man Without Fear in other Marvel projects.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be a really stacked movie, with at least five villains being reported to have a role in it, in addition to the Punisher and Hulk's confirmed appearances. The last thing Marvel would want is to have another The Amazing Spider-Man 2 scenario on their hands, where multiple storylines and characters fight for viewers' attention to no success. That's why it could prove to be the right move to leave Daredevil out of the equation for the time being. However, that doesn't mean their eventual crossover can't be teased.

A report indicated that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature a post-credit scene that hints towards a confrontation between Kingpin and the wall-crawler. Furthermore, rumor has it that Matt Murdock, Frank Castle, Peter Parker, and more heroes will join forces in a street-level crossover further down the line (likely in an adaptation of the Devil's Reign comic book storyline, though that's just pure speculation on our side). Coupled with the Spider-Man Easter Egg in the Daredevil: Born Again finale, it's impossible not to conclude that Marvel wants the two heroes to cross paths further down the line.
Marvel's immediate attention is on closing out the Multiverse Saga in a big and epic way with the release of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, after Doctor Doom attempts to reign over reality as a whole, there is unlimited potential for exciting crossovers. Chances are that Spidey and Daredevil will team up during the MCU's Phase 7, in order to ensure exciting storylines await after 2027.
Only time will tell if and how Peter Parker gets to join forces with Matt Murdock. Unfortunately, Spider-Man: Brand New Day won't be the place where we find such answers, but even then, the future seems bright for the two street-level heroes.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released on July 31, 2026.
