After Marvel released Spider-Man: No Way Home to astounding levels of success back in 2021, Tom Holland's iteration of the wall-crawler swung away from the big screen for nearly five years. We all know Peter Parker makes a habit of missing appointments because he's saving the day, but missing out on the spotlight for nearly half a decade was almost unprecedented. That's the same amount of time it took Sony to reboot the entirety of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man saga. Fortunately, there were plenty of other adventures in the meantime.
While Tom Holland's Peter Parker was out of the picture in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Nicolas Cage's Ben Reilly put on his fedora and jumped into action in Prime Video's Spider-Noir. Furthermore, a new iteration of the web-slinger made its debut in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Miles Morales and Peter Parker also teamed up in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and most importantly, multiple Spider-Variants saved the day after the multiverse was nearly destroyed in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
Unfortunately, we don't know when Spider-Man 5 will come our way. But as was the case before, there are many more arachnid adventures to look forward to, starting with a long-awaited film set to come our way next year.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is set to be released in June 2027
The trilogy-capper in Miles Morales' animated saga is nearly here. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally set to be released in 2024, just one year after its predecessor. However, the film was pushed back indefinitely, and although fans hoped to see it in either 2025 or 2026, that was ultimately not the case. At long last, Sony landed on a Jun. 4, 2027 release date before delaying it one last time by three weeks to Jun. 25, 2027.
All signs suggest that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is, indeed, set to hit its intended release date. After all, Sony already started promoting the movie behind closed doors. During CinemaCon 2025, attendees at Sony's panel got to witness the film's first trailer, while a few stills were dropped for the whole world to see afterward.
The animated film was also promoted in the 2026 edition of CinemaCon, right alongside Spider-Man: Brand New Day. And now that the web-slinger's latest live-action film has come our way, it is likely that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be the center of attention moving forward.
Miles Morales' upcoming adventure will be the last installment in the mainline Spider-Verse saga, tying up all the loose ends left by its predecessor. However, the story won't end there, as multiple Spider-Verse spin-offs are coming our way. A Spider-Punk film, co-written by Daniel Kaluuya and Ajon Singh, is in the works at Sony. Furthermore, it has been reported that an animated Spider-Woman film is being developed and is set to act as a crossover between multiple Spider-Variants.
Sony also confirmed it is working on an animated Venom film directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the masterminds behind Final Destination: Bloodlines. However, it remains unclear whether this project will tie into the greater Spider-Verse multiverse or if it will be a standalone adventure featuring the Lethal Protector.
While Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is the next confirmed Spider-Man film, it has been rumored that we'll see the wall-crawler back on the big screen even sooner than 2027. While reports indicate that Tom Holland's Spider-Man won't be in Avengers: Doomsday, Tobey Maguire's iteration of the character is rumored to take his place. And even before Earth's Mightiest Heroes assemble once more, the web-slinger is bound to take over the small screen courtesy of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2.
It's a good time to be a Spider-Man fan, and it won't be long before the masked menace steals the spotlight again.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be released on June 25, 2027.
