The change from yellow and blue to the blue and black suit is known by Invincible comic book fans as representing some of the darkest times for our hero, Mark Grayson. So far, this has remained true. He was betrayed by Cecil, forced to kill someone he looked up to (Immortal), and Titan tricked him again. Episode 6 of this season was the worst thing to happen to him so far. He gained another enemy in Powerplex and started to wonder if he was doing enough as a hero.

However, Mark won’t have time to contemplate that or lick his wounds, as Angstrom Levy is coming back and he’s bringing some friends along with him.

During season 3, episode 3 of Invincible, Mark notices an orb watching him. He assumes that it was Cecil considering they just had a falling out in the second episode. The fans see that it’s Mark’s most dangerous enemy (for now), Angstrom Levy. After the credits for episode 6 start rolling, Angstrom Levy looks at his 15 Mark Grayons from various Earths and says, “This will do.” Yes, that means the Invincible War is coming in episode 7.

WARNING! POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR INVINCIBLE SEASON 3, EPISODE 8 AHEAD!

What is the Invincible War?

Back in Invincible season 2, Angstrom Levy began looking throughout the multiverse for other versions of Mark Grayson's hero. It was his way of learning everything he could about his nemesis before he went after him. After he was defeated in the season 2 finale, he obtained more enhancements and found other Invincibles from around the multiverse. When the time was right in the comics, he unleashed them on the world to make Invincible look like a villain.

When this happens on the show, it will likely be the bloodiest battle of the series to date. You’re going to see what would happen if Mark was evil and some of what made him that way. In most cases, his relationship with Eve souring turned him bad. Sometimes he joins his father and overtakes Earth (much like he did in season 2, episode 1).

The funniest thing about this is how the fight ends. In the comics, Angstrom Levy sends the remaining Invincible variants to a desolate Earth after they threaten to kill him. They were furious that their numbers were cut. Without them, they couldn't spread the Viltrume Empire to other universes. Levy couldn’t care less so he banishes them. Distracted by that, Mark grabs Angstrom and almost kills him. Like always, Levy escapes through a teleporter. This time, he loses an arm in the process.

With so many threats in this episode, expect to see every hero you’ve met throughout the series while others like Heroes Inc., Brit, Tech Jacket, and more will debut. Spawn was in the source material, but he likely won’t be in this episode. He is an Image Comics character, but there may be some red tape that stops him from showing up. However, like Spider-Man, there could be a version of him created for this platform; who knows!.
